@_esk_kse_ @functi0nZer0 "General" implies it can reason through anything, therefore applying its intelligence generally - which is not how LLMs work

@functi0nZer0 Why isn't it AGI? Think we're being a bit rich on the bar for how impressive general intelligence is

A year or two ago I was solidly in the stochastic parrot camp, because I still wasn’t impressed by capability In the big 26 I reckon if you’re not looking around and seeing it’s far more than that you’re simply wilfully blind Are LLMs going to hit AGI? No They still rock tho

@TrustlessState @VitalikButerin 1) it's crazy the eth community is STILL calling sol centralized in march 2026 2) most people cheering for this new mandate also cheered for last year's mandate from @tkstanczak which was to focus more on apps and BD, and this new mandate is a complete 180 capitulation of that

im fully convinced that LLMs are not an actual net productivity boost (today) they remove the barrier to get started, but they create increasingly complex software which does not appear to be maintainable so far, in my situations, they appear to slow down long term velocity

Maybe there’s something to learn from @elonmusk ’s first-principles approach and management style: start from the whole system, identify the bottleneck, go straight at it, break it down from first principles, and solve it fast. What EF — or the Ethereum ecosystem more broadly — may need is a highly execution-driven team that can play that role: tackling key problems head-on and pushing through with real force. The overall framework should still be grounded in CROPS as the baseline and guiding principle, while also taking real-world constraints and commercial realities seriously.

A senior engineer created a fake junior dev to test hiring advice. The profile had: - good portfolio - active GitHub - senior-level projects - even faked YOE He ran the experiment in the Netherlands, a country known for its developer shortage. Applied to 36 jobs and didn’t get a single interview. The junior dev market is brutal.

We asked people around the world to rate the morality and ethics of others in their country. The U.S. is the only place we surveyed where more adults describe the morality and ethics of others living in the country as bad than good. See our full morality report here: pewresearch.org/religion/2026/…

Cookies are literally what make the modern web usable. Without them: • You’d log in every single page refresh • Shopping carts would empty the second you click away • Your preferences (dark mode, language, etc.) reset constantly
The banners suck, but they’re there because EU law (ePrivacy Directive + GDPR) requires explicit consent for anything non-essential. Blame Brussels, not web devs.

guys, writing _simple_ software is becoming a true lost art. We are all so fucking addicted to dependency bloated, hyper composable Frankenstein systems where every tiny diff triggers a transitive verification nightmare. Oh and we keep pretending abstraction is free. Well guess what it is fucking NOT. Every layer introduces more state, more edge cases, more undefined behaviour, and more emergent interactions that nobody really fully models. Remember: observability decreases as indirection increases. I mean, formal reasoning effectively collapses when the effective system boundary is the entire ecosystem. Oh and then you guys vibe code even more dependency stuffed software and implicitly feed it back into the same LLM, great. Can we stop this insanity for a second? Fewer dependencies (or even better _no_ dependencies). Smaller trusted computing base. Deterministic builds. Reproducibility. Code you can actually read, reason about, and audit e2e. Simplicity is not nostalgia. It is the only thing standing between us and a fucking systemic collapse.
