Maponga Marara compares Burkina Faso under Ibrahim Traoré to China as two successful models that the rest of Africa should emulate. He argues that Africa dropped the ball somewhere along its historical path, particularly due to the disruptive interventions of parasites: imperialists who colonized the continent and plundered its mineral wealth. That interference derailed Africa’s developmental trajectory and imposed foreign systems, including the version of democracy exported to the continent, which has only bred instability. Maponga insists that despite this violent disruption, Africa can still march toward prosperity by following the example set by Traoré: a leader charting a defiant, anti-colonial path to self-determination and genuine sovereignty.
