Condolences: Veteran freedom fighter Ambassador Mohammed Omer who joined the EPLF in 1978 has passed away at the age of 71 after a long illness. Known for his humility and kindness, Ambassador Mohammed, who was also active in the Eritrean Students Movements in the preceding years, served his people and nation in various capacities with utmost devotion. These include: Member of the Executive Committee of the National Union of Eritrean Students from 1978-1984; Head of Mission at the Eritrean Office in Syria; and Head of Research at the EPLF Foreign Office in the field until liberation. After independence, btsai Mohammed served as Eritrea's resident Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates, Egypt and Saudi Arabia respectively. He also served, concurrently, as a non-resident Ambassador to Oman, Kuwait, Bahrain, Qatar, Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

Condolences: Veteran freedom fighter and Minister of Local Government, Btsai Weldenkiel Abraha, has passed away at the age of 87 due to illness. Known for his humility, patriotic dedication, high professionalism and competence in dispensing his responsibilities and functions, Minister Weldenkiel joined the Eritrean Liberation Movement (ELM) in 1961 and has served his people and nation in various capacities with great distinction for 64 long years. Minister Weldenkiel, who formally joined the EPLF in the field in 1974, was elected to the Central Committee in all EPLF/PFDJ Congresses. Btsai Weldenkiel played a pivotal role in cementing the cohesion of the EPLF mass associations as Chairman of the National Union of Eritrean Workers (1979-1987) as well as Chairman of the Coordinator Committee of the National Unions of Eritrean Workers, Students and Women. After Independence, Minister Weldenkiel served as Governor of the Central Region, Eritrea's Ambassador to Germany, Governor of Southern Red Sea Region, Minister of Transport and Communications as well as Minister of Local Government, among others.









#Condolences: Veteran freedom fighter, Ahmed Mohamed-Said Shineti, has passed away at the age of 74 after a long illness. Shineti first joined the ELF in 1968 and the Eritrean People's Liberation Forces when the latter was established in 1970. He served his people and nation with dedication and distinction in various capacities in the EPLA including as a Brigade Commander until 1986. He was later assigned to the Foreign Office to render his devoted services as Vice Consul and Consul in Kassala and Jiddah respectively from 1987 until 1994. He further served as the Director General of the Department of Consular Services in the Foreign Ministry until 2003 when he had to quit due to serious illness.
