@jenhoganjourno As a @UL student we always had them in January and it worked well. One year I worked the two weeks before Christmas in Bunratty Castle and made great money and the semester we were abroad it meant coming home and having nearly 6 weeks of employment before heading back to college.

Is there anything to be said for moving Christmas exams to January? It ruins the build up to Christmas for children &teens. And at third level lots of students are trying to hold down p/t jobs in retail and hospitality, during one of their busiest times! It all adds to the stress

@GuyLodge He was one of the most wonderful lecturers I had during my time @UL so engaging and always so helpful to students. I remember him fondly and I send my sincere condolences on your very sad loss.

My wonderful father, Tom Lodge, died suddenly on Wednesday. I miss him so much already. In his work life, people knew him as a brilliant academic, a fine teacher and a leading expert on South African politics. I knew him as my dad: funny, kind, great with stories, slow to anger.

@IrishRail could you please advise the issue with the 6.50am Waterford- Dublin train this morning. The PA system is muffled so no one heard the announcement and the train is currently stationary in Carlow when it should have departed at 7.56
