Brood of five Whooper Swans at WWT Welney in front of the main obs. These are usually injured birds, or at least one of the pair is injured, and they remain at Welney year-round.
I saw my first ever Chequered Skipper at Shian Wood, Argyll @ScotWildlife reserve today. Then, on the walk back to our chalet in Benderloch, I saw another 14 alongside the roadside! A truly memorable day.

A morning in the Gobi started with a fantastic Oriental Plover. A couple of plantations held European Nightjar, Arctic Warblers and a flighty Siberian Thrush.
Our purple patch continues with this male Black-winged Stilt on the north shore. It becomes the 4th record for the reserve following birds in 1968, 2 in 1987 and one in 2023.
Wow! A Northern Parula @FI_Obs! A massive surprise when this stunner flicked over my shoulder and landed in front of me at Vaila's Trees. After being a bit mobile it thankfully settled down, showing well for everyone on the isle.
