@Neilson_Fiona#SCSPEARL Tonight, Fr Val asked the virtual congregation if they had used this time to be silent and spend time talking with Jesus. Even if we haven't, there is still time....
A5
Slower pace... more time for prayer, more space...cleaner creation, homeschooling... more family time for building relationships, My hope is that post Covid might bring a new evangelisation. You never know. #SCSPEARL
@StarkeyRE1#SCSPEARL. Yes! Even though the circumstances and situation may be drastically different, what was important before is still important now, maybe even more so. Looking after those around us.
@StarkeyRE1 I had no exposure to Catholic life growing up. Not until I was about 15, and then only outside my family. I think other things are at play too.. thankfully.
@StarkeyRE1@CEO_RE A4 Absolutely! One of my favourite quotes:
“Let no one ever come to you without leaving better and happier. Be the living expression of God's kindness: kindness in your face, kindness in your eyes, kindness in your smile.”
― Mother Teresa

Q4 According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church #1669: “every baptized person is called to be a "blessing," and to bless.” What does this look like in the Catholic School in the 21st Century?
Remember respond with A4 and use #SCSPEARL
@CEO_RE A4 The challenge her of course is asking the reflective Q at the end of the day: "How was I a blessing today to the people at school: my students, their parents and my colleagues?" #SCSPEARL
A4 #SCSPEARL I think teachers recognise the blessing they can be in helping children, but in my opinion, teachers in Catholic schools forget that they are to be a blessing to the colleagues and community around them too, in a spiritual way.
@Neilson_Fiona The faith journey is different for each person, even those that seem to have been on the journey awhile. The only road map is from within the faith community #SCSPEARL
#SCSPEARL Lots of good points already. I think that faith needs to be fostered in a community (of teachers). Fellowship is important, and needs to relaxed and inviting.
#SCSPEARL Hello everyone. Sorry I am late. Was filming Mass at my Parish, to broadcast to the community on the weekend. Looking forward to catching up on the discussion so far.
#SCSPEARL A5. Curriculum often has the goal of attaining knowledge, skills and values. I think that when fostering faith is also a goal in RE, we should be using any effective tools we have. APST should be one of those tools.
A4 Coming back to APST, it helps me identify my PL needs, gives me a sense of what is happening more broadly and can itself meet another part of the APST, i.e. "7.4.2Participate in professional and community networks and forums to broaden knowledge and improve practice"
#SCSPEARL
#SCSPEARL A4. PL in different modes (online chat in this case) also helps with different ways of thinking. Very different to conference/lecture style PL.
#SCSPEARL A4. Discussion with other professionals who offer both affirming and alternative viewpoints. If I only look from my own perspective, I have a limited horizon.
@edu_ivers#SCSPEARL I think the key word there is culture. Isolated sporadic ideas and programs have limited effectiveness and impact, but a culture of learning is both influential and pervasive.
@neilsonedu It really means that the #Leadership must model would good Professional Learning looks like and create a culture of learning not just for the Ss but the Ts as well. #SCSPEARL
#SCSPEARL A3. I think that it is important for leaders to practice what they preach. By modelling best practice, and encouraging others, leaders can foster a positive culture that effectively engages in PD/PL, putting learnings into practice.
