@jeff_shaull ...and nothing at all. How is a former president auctioning bits of his suit not an absolute embarrassment? Seriously, someone needs to do a wellness check.

@jeff_shaull She’s way more impressive than he is, although they’re both loathsome.

Casey DeSantis calling for 1000's of carpet-baggers to descend on Iowa cause Republicans are big into states rights
Philip Melanchthon Wegmann@PhilipWegmann

During interview w/ @marthamaccallum, Casey DeSantis called on an out-of-state coalition of mothers and grandmothers “to descend upon the state of Iowa to be a part of the caucus” and “let their voices be heard.” “You do not have to be a resident of Iowa,” she said.

@batcountry1980 Definitely my favorite REM record. Probably a little biased as it is of a time for me. I was a sophomore in college and listened to it 100's of times with my buddies. Also saw them live that year, Stipe was still so shy he did most of the show with his back to us

The “just back from London, lock myself in my room for hours listening to music” day continues. Absolutely no dip in quality from R.E.M on their second album. It feels like a perfect sequel actually. If someone said they prefer this to ‘Murmur’ I wouldn’t think they were crazy.

@jeff_shaull Isn't it basically just lead gen feeding to local dealers? I thought I read final sale is still with the dealers, but this could be a chip in the wall for sure.

Wow....Hyundai dealers ( and car dealers in general) cannot be excited about this
Andy Jassy@ajassy

Some exciting news for customers: Amazon.com will be launching online vehicle sales in the U.S. next year, starting with @Hyundai. Will be part of our strategic partnership with them to help make the buying experience easier, add the Alexa experience into their next-gen vehicles, and help them transform their customer experiences and business operations through their move to AWS. Looking forward to inventing together for many years! aboutamazon.com/news/company-n…

@JeffTweedy has such a great piece up about opening hearts and minds to music we were taught to hate. I remember Disco Demolition Night at Comiskey Park when I was a kid - only later did I fully absorb what laughing at and enabling that hatred did to me. nytimes.com/2023/11/02/opi…

@ShabazzStuart Overall its great news, and I'm happy to pay for a new garbage can (or is it three? - two more for recycling?), but a bit bummed about the amount of landfill this is going to create.

There has been no coverage about the massive quality of life improvement that these polices will bring, and no credit given to the people that made this happen behind the scenes-- who most certainly faced mountains of red tape and bureaucratic pushback.

Worth repeating. NYC has implemented a plan to remove 95% of trash bags off the curb (after years of negative coverage) and the local press is focused on: -A few residents in Harlem complaining about ugly bins -$45 This is why nice things don't happen. gothamist.com/news/nyc-homeo…

Anyway, it's very odd framing by Gothamist to make $45 seem like some excruciatingly high and onerous one-time cost in exchange for getting dripping bags of garbage off the sidewalks. This is good news.

Hey, ever heard of #AdaLovelace? You totally need to 😉. She's an original tech visionary and is known as the first computer programmer, thanks to her work with Charles Babbage on the Analytical Engine. She proves that women have always been at the forefront of tech. 👩‍💻 🙌

When I wrote 1491, I began by describing the big earthworks ("geoglyphs") in western Amazonia. Now a 220-person(!) team uses Lidar to find 20 more all over the river basin, and uses computer modeling to argue there are 10-24k more hidden in the forest. #tab-contributors" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">science.org/doi/full/10.11…

@KevinMKruse @TPCarney In the 117th Congress, the vote for Speaker was 216–209 for Pelosi and all GOP voting for McCarthy. Nobody complained about voting straight party line then. What changed?
