To anyone who wished they could go to church today. Anyone who did go and doesn't know how to help. Anyone who can't reconcile their decision to leave or stay in their faith. Anyone who can't make out their own spiritual needs and values from those of others. This one's for you.

We couldn't be happier/more relieved to announce that I, Lord is now ARTS COUNCIL FUNDED! It’s been a heckuva road. But survivors of spiritual and/or faith-based trauma deserve to be heard, and we weren’t going to stop until we got that platform. bit.ly/3pqgmHQ

@ReshapersCIC I'm violently ill today - can barely get out of bed to throw up - and I never get ill. Last time anything like this happened I was under severe stress from mental health hospital institutional abuse. Just saying...! Solidarity ✊

I'm going to take a break for the rest of today from social media & abuse filling my head. We all need to protect space in our life for joy & I'm off to find some. I hope you all can too 🙏

New blog post! Following our 2nd core group session, our confirmed, co-created Vision, Mission and Values - with a little preface explaining more about how what we do is different to what's already out there, and why it is needed. Happy Sunday reading! bit.ly/4gatfvr

@turtleandturtle I often think that if I had been able to finish my degree I might have become someone who waits around for stuff to come to me rather than having to make stuff happen. And I certainly wouldn't have as strong a sense of purpose as I do now.

I messed up my A levels due to drug addiction. I didn't get into any of the 'proper' unis but later went to Southbank in Elephant where I did an Arts Management degree. Now I run an arts org. I'm glad it turned out like that

With 4 days until our 1st ever core group session, we're reflecting on the common mistakes in practice around trauma, preparing ourselves to start differently, & continuing to learn! Our latest blog post shares what we think the biggies are. Do you agree? bit.ly/3yoJTGz

@ReshapersCIC @Rgt71Robert @NewStatesman @churchofengland @synod This is where I don't totally agree that apologising to keep one's integrity intact is sufficient. That's all still about the perpetrator. Letting the survivor control the narrative, absolutely; but accepting they can't make amends? Only if they still do whatever they can to try.

Very strong, incisive stuff from Stephen Cherry in @NewStatesman We keep apologizing again & again @churchofengland to abuse victims & survivors….. & @synod have said that we apologize/lament homophobia….. Without real change though in how we conduct our common life many of us simply hear the church telling many: “get over it”.

Powerful and insightful piece by Stephen Cherry on apologies in the latest New Statesman. “To apologise without making amends is almost always to perpetuate the original offence”

Tonight a group of theatre artists meet to discuss how we can support new & emerging #playwrights in these tough times. We asked new & emerging playwrights their concerns & desires .The answers were plentiful & powerful. Reply to this tweet if you'd like to read them. #Theatre

@nellhardyactor @ReshapersCIC @ChurchTimes @GenSyn That's my understanding. I'm a survivor on the other side, of a CDM taken out for a grievance (at most), and punished by the process. My husband still suffers health problems as a result. The process needs to be clear and robust for the benefit of all.

@nellhardyactor @ReshapersCIC @ChurchTimes @GenSyn The measure is what will be voted on in July and then goes to parliament for approval. The rules and code of practice can't be enacted in Synod until the measure is. So there are draft rules now, and the code is yet to come, and will flesh out the detail of those things.

@thevicarswife @ReshapersCIC @ChurchTimes @GenSyn I'm one of the survivors sending in feedback on the CCM, and one of the main points I'm making is that I want to see more detail on what makes something a grievance, misconduct or serious misconduct. Is that what you mean by code of practice?

@nellhardyactor @ReshapersCIC @ChurchTimes @GenSyn Remember that this is for things that are less serious (misconduct rather than serious misconduct). The rules are only in draft now and code of practice yet to be written. That is where this sort of detail will be described, if considered necessary.

But that's an extreme example. Putting a year's time limit on going through a complaints process shows a complete lack of awareness of how trauma works, let alone the practical risks involved in complaining (which are many, with countless nuances for different circumstances).

In my case, my "good reason"s included not knowing misconduct was happening (he was covering up the abuse I had reported to him and as far as I knew I was patiently waiting for an outcome), and being homeless and hospitalised therefore unable to access Internet and info freely.

So glad to see @ChurchTimes drawing attention to this. The executive power of one person to decide if I had "good reason" not to complain within a year of misconduct, and to do so with misogyny and ableism, was the final straw of me not being able to return to the CofE.
