@mohammedhersi Dangote did a new port. A new road. He has created a new town from massive numbers working on the project. Scale. New land. New area. Our issue could be politics to even release land.....but wait, Dangote faced same, he went round it within is it 5yrs? Anyway, it time.

A couple of days ago while landing in Mombasa, I tried to catch a clip of our now-closed refinery. I've always thought KPRL was a big facility — I even asked at one point why not revive it. Today I decided to do a quick comparison with what Al Hajj Aliko Dangote set up in Lekki, Lagos, Nigeria. The numbers humbled me. 🇳🇬 Dangote Refinery: 📐 6,180 acres (2,635 hectares) 🛢️ 650,000 barrels/day 💧 4.74 billion litres storage ⚡ Own 435 MW power plant 🇰🇪 KPRL (Mombasa): 📐 378 acres (~150 hectares) 🛢️ 80,000 barrels/day (designed) 💧 484 million litres storage 🚫 Refining ceased in 2013 Dangote's site is 16× larger. Let that sink in. Now here's what really caught my attention — the debate is on Tanga vs Mombasa as Mama Suluhu meets Dangote today. But if the plan is to replicate the Nigeria setup, where exactly is the land in Mombasa? Our entire Dongo Kundu Economic Zone is 3,000 acres — half the size of the Dangote plant alone. This fact-check surprised me. Maybe we throw Lamu into the ring? 🤔

A Kenyan presenting credentials. Another Kenyan receiving them. On the global stage. And suddenly diplomacy becomes personal. Because beyond the UN emblem and formalities lies a story many understand too well - of mentorship, proximity to greatness, seasons of learning, and eventually, arrival. One generation opening doors. Another walking through them.

“We launched the refinery in 2013, and for five years we had issues with the land. Everything was being blocked by the oil mafia. We had to build our own port because no port in the country could handle the heavy equipment. We also had to build a harbour, roads, and a water system with a capacity of 440 million litres. Our water facility alone covers more than 30 hectares.” — Aliko Dangote

Imagine rescuing someone from trenches, you employ him as your errand boy. Then one night while you're drunk enjoying a vacation with your family, he goes ahead to supply high voltage electricity to your underage daughter without her consent. You go to court but the elders intervene & you drop the case. The mikora goes ahead to spread rumors that your daughter was the one who was loose. We are talking about a lady who was barely 15yrs,,, young & naive. He uses the case as a campaign tool citing unfair treatment from his former boss. He goes ahead to ridicule both you & your daughter. Today the pedophile mumu is going round insulting & belittling the very same man whom he raped his daughter. A man who rescued him from the shackles of poverty. Today, the man has becoming ungovernable, insulting even the late former president Moi & his family. Maajabu ya Musa!!

Would an African president shut up a noisy audience in France the way Macron did in Nairobi? Some Africans are outraged about the French president's paternalistic tone. But some praise him for showing leadership. Was it rude, or was it the right thing to do?
