We’re the crazy fans who are here to party, donate to good causes, scream the Shout Song and show up at every game, no matter where it is and what the weather is like. We’re the lunatics not wearing shirts during blizzards and throwing snow in the air like confetti after touchdowns. We’re the city nobody thinks about; the forgotten corner of New York State that, besides the Bills, is known for snow and going through tough times. . But for us Buffalonians, it’s different. I moved to Texas 6 years ago to work in professional sports, and it’s because of the Bills. They ignited my love for sports as early as I can remember. I watched them go to four Super Bowls in a row when I was 5-8 years old, and I remember the parties, and what it did for the community. I remember my parents’ passion for them. I remember the Goodyear blimp flying over my house in the playoffs. I remember hearing the whole neighborhood cheer for touchdowns. I remember the passion. I was 13 for the Music City Miracle, and remember the walk home from my friends house with my head down, lamenting the loss but believing we’d be back. I sat through countless games during the 17 year drought, owning season tickets for the majority of it. I hail from “The Grass Lot” tailgates (IYKYK) where the true origins of the legendary table breaking and Bills Mafia can be traced (and shoutout to @DelReid for coining the phrase, even though he is a Ken West guy - go Bulldogs!) . It’s impossible to explain what this team means to us. Generations of Buffalonians gather around the TV EVERY Sunday, no matter the record, to watch our beloved team represent us on a national level. Our city is tiny, yet we’ve kept our franchise despite the countless efforts to move them. “Go Bills” is a greeting and a farewell. This team is much more than football. It’s the social fabric that unifies our resilient city and, like the city itself, hope for the future. . No matter what happens today, there is no fanbase like Bills Mafia. We’ve been here since the beginning, and we’re not going anywhere. . Wide right. 4 straight Super Bowl losses. Music City Miracle. 17 year playoff drought. 13 seconds. It’s been tough…but we’re still here, and we’re not going anywhere. It’s made us who we are: Bills Mafia. . I’ve flown home for every home opener since 2018 to run 17 miles from Hertel to Highmark stadium the morning of the game to fundraise as a way to stay connected to the city that I love. I did it again last week for the divisional round, running through the ice, snow, and cold. And I may be doing it again in two weeks . Today, this displaced Buffalonian will be cheering from the edge of his seat in Cowboy Country with my adopted Bills Mafia who I’ve met here - who have all adopted the Bills because of our contagious passion. .
