#Manipur
The Kuki Organisation for Human Rights Trust (KOHUR) has strongly rebutted the recent statement issued by the Media Cell of the United Naga Council (UNC), exposing what it described as distorted narratives and misleading claims targeting the Kuki-Zo community in Manipur.
KOHUR challenged the UNC’s assertions on historical, constitutional, and security matters, stating that attempts to delegitimize the identity, land rights, and political history of the Kuki-Zo people are unacceptable and contrary to documented realities.
The organisation further warned against the dangerous propagation of divisive rhetoric at a time when peace, justice, and accountability are urgently needed in the region. KOHUR reiterated that truth cannot be erased through propaganda or selective interpretation of history.

The United Naga Council may claim that accusations emerged only through recent social media campaigns, but Kuki mistrust is rooted in painful historical experience long before the internet era. One of the clearest examples was the abducti0n and murd€r of Lalkhohen Thangeo in 1993 after attending a peace programme organised by the #ManipurBaptistConvention — a tragedy that deeply scarred the Kuki faith in reconciliation efforts.
The memories of the 1990s further intensified this trauma. During the 1992–1997 Tangkhul–Naga conflict, Kuki civil bodies and multiple reports documented that hundreds to nearly 1,000 Kukis, including women and children, were killed, over 360 Kuki villages uprooted, and around one lakh people displaced in violence widely attributed to the NSCN-IM and allied forces.
Therefore, dismissing present concerns as mere ‘social media propaganda’ ignores decades of bloodshed, displacement, and unresolved historical wounds carried by the Kuki people. Genuine peace requires acknowledgment of these painful realities, not denial or selective memory.

14 Kukis remain hostages. The silence must end. The government and security agencies are urged to act immediately. Every moment of delay is a grave failure of humanity and justice. Release them now and bring them home safely.

@RahulGandhi
An Open Letter to Rahul Gandhi
Dear Rahul Gandhiji,
For many Indians, you have become a symbol of truth, a voice of conscience, and a hope that democracy can still be restored in our nation. You have stood against the authoritarian regime of the BJP, exposed their lies, and reminded us that India’s soul lies in justice, equality, and independent institutions.
At a time when institutions like the Election Commission, CBI, ED, and even sections of the judiciary appear compromised or silenced, the People’s Union for Civil Liberties (PUCL) rose like a phoenix. Against all odds, PUCL fearlessly investigated and brought out the truth on the Manipur violence—a truth that points clearly towards the culpability of the Meitei organisations, the state machinery under N. Biren Singh, and the ongoing persecution of the Kuki-Zo people.
Yet, shockingly, one of your party MPs, Prof. Bimol Akoijam, has publicly ridiculed the PUCL report, dismissing it as “biased” and calling the respected members of PUCL “morally bankrupt.” What is most disturbing is that he offers no facts, no evidence, and no rational counter-arguments. His rejection appears rooted only in the discomfort that the truth goes against his own community—the Meiteis—and against outfits like Arambai Tenggol and Meitei Leepun, who stand accused of unleashing violence.
This is not just an internal matter. It is about whether the Indian National Congress truly stands for truth, justice, and independent institutions—or whether it will allow narrow community interests to override national principles.
If Congress wants to differentiate itself from the BJP, then it must defend PUCL, not discredit it. Institutions like PUCL are rare in today’s India. At a time when even sections of the judiciary hesitate to stand up, PUCL had the courage to tell the truth. Their voice should not be mocked—least of all by a Congress MP.
Rahul Ji, this is the moment to act. We urge you to:
1. Speak up publicly in defense of the PUCL report and its findings on the Manipur violence.
2.Rebuke and, if necessary, expel any Congress leader—including Prof. Bimol Akoijam—who tries to suppress the truth or malign independent institutions for narrow political or communal reasons.
3.Reassure the people of Manipur, especially the victims of this violence, that the Congress will stand with them for truth, justice, and reconciliation.
India needs the Congress to be different from the BJP—not just another party hungry for power, but a party that puts truth above politics and justice above appeasement.
We, the people of Manipur, still believe in your leadership. We have no faith in Narendra Modi or the BJP machinery. Our hope lies in a Congress that listens, that protects, and that has the courage to stand by institutions like PUCL, even when the truth is uncomfortable.
This is not just about Manipur. This is about the idea of India.
Let the truth prevail. Let justice be delivered. Let no one who suppresses the truth remain in the Congress.
With hope,

Meitei Christians are double victims as per PUCL
Why are you not supporting them ? Are they not Meitei? Are you not secular ? Why are you MP then? Do you support gharwapasi of Christians then ? Will you next convert pangals to Hindus ?

@Bimol_Akoijam @PUCLindia There are also numerous reports that those who came to torch Kuki houses in mixed localities carried lists in hand. Does this not suggest that a reconnaissance had been carried out well in advance, as confirmed by the precision with which they targeted such houses? (8)

@Mikez1915 @Bimol_Akoijam @PUCLindia If they managed to burn down more than 360 churches in just a week—even at night—it’s obvious they had a list prepared to identify which ones were Kuki-Zo, churches but not Naga's. It’s far too much work, and far too coordinated, to locate and burn that many churches on the spot.

The government's repeated references to peace are puzzling. In reality, both Meitei and Kuki-Zo communities have coexisted peacefully within their respective ancestral territories for the past 20 months or so.
However, it is essential to acknowledge that it is a meticulously planned genocide initiated by Ex-CM N Biren Singh and his cohorts to encroach on Kuki-Zo land. To achieve lasting peace, it is crucial that the government takes decisive action to prevent further Meitei aggression against Kuki-Zo communities and establish a separate administration for Kuki-Zo territory.
Furthermore, the Kuki-Zo people have made it unequivocally clear that they will not re-enter Meitei territory, and conversely, they will not permit Meiteis to encroach on Kuki-Zo land under any circumstances.
