Game development education has failed, and the old guard has moved on, retired or been laid off. I've talked to recent graduates and people actively in school that know literally nothing about old techniques or optimization in any way. They expect the engine to do everything for them.





A video game legend who had a remarkable impact on the industry. I'm grateful for his friendship & being one of the early supporters to modernize & create new franchises with us. A true creative who brought so much to his projects. We continue to play his games & honor him as his legacy lives on through the games he helped create.




The Economist published this article that's contentious but probably right: It argues that laws protecting labour in much of Europe make lay-offs so onerous that high-risk moonshot projects become unviable. Making it easier to fire people could, weirdly, benefit everyone.




We need a return to analog culture: handwritten letters, seeing films in the cinema, reading books, in-person visits, time in the outdoors. We weren't meant to spend our whole lives online. The joys of tangible living are something no one can take from you.
