@A1ndasemn0me ….what? There’s a massive homebrew community for the Sega Dreamcast. Many people still play it since it can play burned games without modifications. Just scroll through my feed and look at how many people are playing and supporting our ports…

Impressive But I genuinely wonder what the purpose is of porting something that already exists on various platforms to an old console that isn't even manufactured anymore, only existing through emulation? It's not like this is going to make the game more accessible.

Sonic Mania Plus for the Sega Dreamcast finally has audio! Here's a 2 minute direct hardware capture of me playing the latest build of @SonicFreak94's port on my actual DC to hype up the Blue Blur's epic comeback to a Sega console... where he has always belonged!

Berlin just legalized: - Secret police break-ins to plant spyware - State trojans for hacking phones and cracking encrypted chats - Mass location tracking and facial recognition Berlin has enacted a new police law granting authorities extensive surveillance powers, including the right to secretly enter homes and hack phones.

Tested: Windows 11’s ‘faster’ File Explorer (preloaded) is still slower than Windows 10. On a 4GB RAM test machine, File Explorer used ~32.4MB of RAM without preloading. After turning on preloading, Windows quietly adds ~35MB more. So Explorer now sits at ~67.4MB in memory before you even open it. 35MB isn’t a big deal in 2025. Your browser eats that for breakfast. That's not the point of my testing. Why is the preloaded File Explorer still slower than Windows 10? I made a video to compare the two versions.

@boghogooo I agree with the objectivity of the observation, and while this particular deviation is not intentional, it is more realistic. If possible I create a dual reaction system, one that is core and another that looks more realistic. Latter changes the dynamic of the game, bonus!

For those who don't know, in FF (and most games rly) moves knock down in the direction you're facing, not the direction the enemy's hit from which enables you to do a backjump attack to group enemies. The game has like 8 mechanics, it shouldnt be possible to get a major one wrong

@MXRetroDev @boghogooo Please don't "fix" this particular "bug". As much faithful as the port must be, the original was actually inconsistent in this aspect. The opponent should react accordingly to physical rules of motion instead of whatever engine oversight or limitation Capcom put out.

@falco_girgis Genesis/MD -> Saturn -> Dreamcast Always a fanboy until the end, DC was my last console, which my parents bought for me for Christmas (2K). Why was it my last console? Idk, it kind of shocked me (com flop), then jumped to PC. Kid then, adult now, is mind-blown with DC indie dev.

I really don't like to ever make off-topic personal posts like this, but I figured finally breaking the 10k follower mark might actually warrant it... so here it goes... Thank you. Never in a million years would I have expected to be able to create a following centered around coding for the Sega Dreamcast, a console which was considered "dead" back in 2001... Not only have you guys allowed the Sega Dreamcast's legacy to live on by supporting our homebrew developers and community, but I swear god, the little white box is becoming more popular now for indie and retro developers than it has been ever since its commercial demise! I just wanted to humbly thank you all for the support, the encouragement, the follows, the likes, the shares, and everything you've done for me both personally, as a developer who has been able to share my passion work with the world, but for also supporting the projects of other developers which I've tried to share along the way... You're not just a number to me... You're all fucking awesome, supportive, passionate, people, and I love you... even those of you who bought a PS2 instead of the Dreamcast during Christmas of 2000! Forgiven! 🤣

I've been seeing tweets claiming that, before Unreal Engine, old game studios always created their own custom engines, but that’s a myth. If you ever played PS2-era titles, like GTA, Bully, Burnout, Harry Potter, Pro Evo, Persona, Crackdown, Mortal Kombat, and Tony Hawk, then you played a game that ran on the UK-made RenderWare Engine. Dozens of games used that shit before EA bought and discontinued support for it, (possibly to hurt competitors).

@TheCartelDel Yes, that's true. But I think among those there are more substantial arguments to be found, that everyone and their uncle are adopting UE and, whatever is gained, little effort is poured into optimization. Back in the day, most studios used to optimize af, apart from GTA4 lol

our boy Phil Spencer says, "we continue to play Tomonobu Itagaki's games & honor him." okay. so why did @Xbox erase every woman from the Ninja Gaiden 2 Black trailer? they posted the same trailer as @PlayStation but replaced every single scene featuring women with entirely different footage. this video shows exactly how far they went to censor itagaki's legacy. just disgusting. itagaki didn't make sterile, sanitized games. he made unapologetic masterpieces. xbox owes its early edge to that energy. now they're scrubbing it out like it's shameful. gutting his legacy of the very style and spirit he built it with. it's clear xbox hates attractive women. they treat them like a threat, not part of the art. xbox needs to clean house and purge the activists. these parasites are killing your brand. you don't honor a legacy by erasing it, philly boy. this is spitting in itagaki's face. timestamps 00:00 uncensored 00:34 censored 00:44 uncensored 00:53 censored 00:55 uncensored 00:56 censored 00:57 uncensored

A video game legend who had a remarkable impact on the industry. I'm grateful for his friendship & being one of the early supporters to modernize & create new franchises with us. A true creative who brought so much to his projects. We continue to play his games & honor him as his legacy lives on through the games he helped create.

California is one of the worst states for tax and it's still better than Portugal. 🇵🇹 Portugal vs 🇺🇸 California — tech worker taxes (2025) Salary: €100K / $100K equivalent Portugal: 11% social security + progressive income tax Take-home ≈ €60–65K (≈35–40% total tax) California: Fed + state + payroll taxes Take-home ≈ $68–70K (≈30–32% total tax)

I live in Portugal 🇵🇹 - Employers are reluctant to give contracts because it’s hard to fire employees - Employees have little motivation to perform because taxes are so high - Entrepreneurs start foreign companies because Portugal is so anti-business The Left ruin everything
Jordan Taylor@Jordan_W_Taylor

The Economist published this article that's contentious but probably right: It argues that laws protecting labour in much of Europe make lay-offs so onerous that high-risk moonshot projects become unviable. Making it easier to fire people could, weirdly, benefit everyone.

@WarpaintJournal "Every word landed" - probbably not. "Every insult was meant" - as opposed to what, really, what? "Every attack cut deeper than you realize but I don’t carry it the way you think I do" - so not that deep after all. "Every attack comes from fear" - evidently not true. Bad writing!

People say the cruelest things when they’re mad. They act like it never happened when they calm down. Yes, you did. Every word landed. Every insult was meant. Every attack comes from fear, insecurity, or anger that isn’t about me it’s about them. Every attack cut deeper than you realize but I don’t carry it the way you think I do. I remember it all. I felt it all. You don’t get to gaslight me into forgetting. You don’t get to act like it didn’t count. You don’t get to rewrite what you said. I see the truth behind your calm and it doesn’t fool me. Stand on it. Own it. That’s your reality not mine. And I will not carry the weight of your words for you.

We need a return to analog culture: handwritten letters, seeing films in the cinema, reading books, in-person visits, time in the outdoors. We weren’t meant to spend our whole lives online. The joys of tangible living are something no one can take from you. Because no screen can replicate the weight of a book in your hands, the warmth of someone’s voice without lag, the way time slows when you’re fully present. Because memory feels different when it’s not curated for an audience. Because the most meaningful moments were never meant to be documented, only lived.
