@jasonlk @hthieblot Or sell for equity in a private company. LLC makes the purchase, destroying QSBS status.
English

Well you are in California, own 18%, and sold before you hit QSBS
So you end up with $12,000,000 or so in cash
That’s tough
You can’t buy that $10m+ house actually that’s so slick
You can buy some cool cars but not that many
You can buy some watches
Maybe
- Pay off all your debt
- Buy a $5m house, put 30% down
- Buy your partner something really nice
- Take care of your parents
- Put rest into QQQ for now

@OnlyCFO LTV/CAC + CAC Payback = power combination. Both are insufficient in isolation
English

LTV/CAC is actually a perfect metric and more companies should talk about it.
It’s always wrong. But wrong doesn’t mean useless. Your forecast is always wrong but you still do that, right?
I don’t think most companies should regularly report it, but it is valuable to discuss what must be true for the unit economics to make sense
English

@Kellblog That is $0.24 more than my angel investments have returned.
I hope this distribution doesn’t change you, Dave. Stay humble.
English

@davegerhardt I think it must have fallen off your shelf...you wrote the foreword to the second edition and @Kellblog wrote the foreword to the "classic" edition. Not quite, Olgilvy, but handy nonetheless...

English

"reliably" is working pretty hard here.
BDR is a great entry to sales in tech, but keep in mind...
OTE starts at $50k-$60k
Most don't make it to an AE role (up or out...)
$250k OTE is for an enterprise AE, most BDR-->AE jumps are great comp increases

If you’re not technical, the best first job is SDR at a well run startup. I can’t think of another way to reliably get to $250k/year by your mid twenties.
English

@Kellblog You know that business better than most: tough to implement and tough to rip out. But very good company
English

And you can see it in the numbers -- 98% GRR is a wow!

Watching the OneStream IPO yesterday was a rare treat. Breaking into finance teams may be a tough sales cycle - we're a bunch of skeptical Luddites -but goshdarnit once you're in, you're all the way in. @jasonlk summarizes the gorgeousness. saastr.com/5-interesting-…
English

@erenbali And in your late 50s you move to one giant external monitor with grandpa sized text.
English

@Kellblog Congrats to Stephanie! Good news is you will have more reasons to visit Boston. Let me know when you are in town.

Dear @msexcel UX team:
For the love of God, please fix the world's most annoying UI issue that has been in your product since the 1990s. When I try to click to zoom a worksheet in a multi-tab workbook, I invariably hit the "add tab plus sign" instead of the "zoom view plus sign". And since it doesn't zoom my screen, I hit it 4 or five times before I realize I am hitting the wrong plus sign that is a few millimeters away, resulting in several new tabs that have to be individually deleted.
