TONIGHT Dr. Michael McGuire will be discussing When the East Is In The House: A Brief History of Hip Hop in Halifax! Director of the East of East Atlantic Canadian Hip Hop Archive, Michael is an artist & academic primarily working on the intersections of hip hop & education.

This evening, Ana Eguiguren will introduce us to Friends and foes: exploring sperm whale behaviour through drone videography. A @DalhousieU PhD student, Ana is primarily interested in how sperm whales relate to one another and cooperatively care for their young.

TONIGHT Tyler deLoughery will be discussing Cubesat Driven Exoplanet Research. Tyler is a graduate of the Photonics and Laser Technology program at Carleton University. He led the TESERACT CubeSat project in conjunction with the National Research Council and love climbing!

TONIGHT @SFortuneSea will be taking us on a Deep dive into the world of whales. Sarah is an Assistant Professor at @DalhousieU and @CWF_FCF Chair in Large Whale Conservation. She studies #whales using biologgers, remote sensing and in-situ ocean sampling of their prey.

TONIGHT Alex Hancock will present Our deep-sea neighbors: the complex lives of cold water corals in the Maritimes. Alex is a @DalhousieU marine biology grad student working with deep-sea corals, especially those found in the waters surrounding Nova Scotia.

TONIGHT @taylor_reid09 of @Mitacs will discuss the Sharks of Nova Scotia. Reid has spent her entire life on ocean: surfing, sailing, tagging sharks, & working #SearchAndRescue with @CoastGuardCAN. She's also worked with DFO & @OCEARCH, & is passionate about all things shark.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Emily Devereaux: a PhD Health candidate at @DalhousieU , Her area of research interest includes pediatric emergency department utilization and the effect of community programs on emergency department presentations of children.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Jett Gleason: a fourth year BSc undergraduate studying marine biology at @DalhousieU. She is from Vancouver, BC and likes hiking, surfing, and swimming in the ocean.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Andrew Wright: a marine mammal scientist, conservation marketing champion and an Affiliate Professor at George Mason University in Virginia, USA. He runs Nerd Nite Halifax and has recently started doing improv comedy.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Andrew Burke: an independent software developer, digital artist, and occasional entrepreneur based in Halifax. He is an award-winning Toastmasters speaker and was the PodCamp Halifax Battledecks champion … in 2013.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Kristina Boerder: a German researcher at @DalhousieU studying marine conservation & nature-based solutions to climate change. She enjoys sailing, watching squirrels with her cat & complaining about Canadian beer.

Tonight's Nerd Nite Unscripted features Douglas Wetmore: a volunteer with @MoreThanBusesHRM (Insta) who has been riding Halifax transit for a decade. Advocating for better transit, he knows a lot about Halifax's transit network - and has plenty of opinions on the good & the bad.
