@g8nwc I only ask as I've got kit collecting dust, that I need to put back together - never actually made a QSO as struggled to schedule one or no-one had the kit.

@nerdsville I’ve a rx somewhere, some of the Norfolk boys have and will be getting that on in better weather…very cheap to obtain so I’ll add some to next order of stuff..

Out and about yesterday and briefly up on Normanby Top (Wolds Top) and tried out the homebrew antenna, getting a very strong signal.

@g8nwc Not using a LNA on GB3VL, what you can see in the photo is a bias-t being used to remove the voltage from the satellite receiver (no option to turn off LNB power) - 3cm/FM receiver for GB3LX is a work in progress ;-) Any one at SDARS got 5GHz analogue kit?

@nerdsville Great, must visit that location, highest in Lincs, and have a play as well…how’s 3cm or is that work in progress…is that a wideband LNA guess ok out of town but mine suffered greatly at home, use old filtered preamp now.

A rainy afternoon project! A 23cm yagi with PETG 3D printed supports and clever former for the folded dipole. Stainless steel elements, copper tubing and aluminium boom. Total cost around £21 ATM.

Out testing the 23cm yagi, drove out to a nearby high spot this afternoon and using the satellite finder received GB3VL ATV repeater, thankfully didn't need the LNA as it didn't survive being fed 18V. Not sure who was working through it.

First fit, need to check dipole as resonant frequency too low.

@nerdsville There is Andrew…been out portable and made sure some of my stuff still OK.

There is some local ATV activity at the moment and spotted an old Amatrad analogue satellite receiver on eBay sold as spares or repair. Freed the stuck standby button and it lives. Now to see if I can receive GB3LX

Nice to catch up for a chat this morning.

Sorting out the garage and find the high altitude balloon payload that I flew in 2015 at the National Hamfest. It was before Bertie's time and he was intrigued by the backup crew!

@m1geo @mikelectricstuf No idea, don't know the video ;-) I spotted it in the box at the rally, thought it would be useful. When I started looking for some documentation found it was still available to buy.

@nerdsville Are these the ones that @mikelectricstuf was complaining about on YouTube? With no isolation, etc.

Picked up a handy USB RS422/RS485 Serial adapter (with isolation) at a recent radio rally for £1 - could have got a new one for £200

@2m0sql It was, fairly niche but handy for the day job! - it is typical over inflated "industrial" grade price. Hope you are keeping well?

Morning at the Wiltshire Radio Rally, couldn't resist some nostalgia. More of a Z80/6809 child but did some assembler on school BBC

Struggling to find some information on the Cobra MRF75 marine radio, principally wanted to know the speaker-mic was wired - then remembered the FCC database and bingo! Everything I needed, manual, schematic etc fcc.report/FCC-ID/BBOMRF75

The £35 rally find Marine radios rx seems good. Getting Humber coastguard strong using an old PMR antenna. Immaculate unmarked unit apart from the power lead hacked off and is missing the speaker-mic, but can't tx anyway.

@m0cvo Thanks Nigel, saw that - but I'd gone straight to one of their product pages, added to cart then ordered it - then nothing - email on the order acknowledgement bounces back. I'd brought something from them at previous Hamfest, so wasn't like I didn't know them.
