@towers_kt Thank you for the invite tip and the fall wishes! Just sent you a follow and added a link in the Twitter bio for my new location. We are currently enjoying a beautiful vacation in the Northeast!

Have been persuaded to move to Mastodon, and wandering.shop seems like a space where I'd want to be. Would anyone happen to have an invite they'd be willing to send my way?

@qedkorc Very apt description of the west coast right now, because all the wildfire smoke is making the air spicy and crunchy.

@eridowd I've only had this kind of burger one place, so I might describe it as "Japanese ski resort style" if I thought anyone at all would know what I meant.

I will never get this this fast ever again. I solved Semantle #68 in 4 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 25.55 (322/1000).My penultimate guess had a similarity of 30.09 (737/1000). semantle.novalis.org

@jessimurray Just tried it for the first time! Beginner's luck? I solved Semantle #36 in 25 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 16.41. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #20. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 52.26 (995/1000). semantle.novalis.org

This game is so ridiculously hard. I solved Semantle #36 in 185 guesses. My first guess had a similarity of 3.29. My first word in the top 1000 was at guess #83. My penultimate guess had a similarity of 30.90 (948/1000). semantle.novalis.org

TIL about Kazungula, the one place where four countries come together. While it seems like it's not a true four corners situation, the borders apparently aren't as clear as Google Maps makes them seem. #Botswana%E2%80%93Namibia%E2%80%93Zambia%E2%80%93Zimbabwe" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quadripoi…

@simonw @willmcgugan Depending on your definition of "break", I have a counterexample I hit last week: doStuff(ExternalClass().thing) My doStuff function doesn't accept None, so my mypy CI checks broke when ExternalClass.thing became optional.

@willmcgugan Right, but the inverse isn't true - taking something that's required and making it optional doesn't break anything It would be really useful if someone could write the definitive guide to backwards compatible API changes. I've wanted this for JSON APIs too

Coffee fueled #Python thought of the day. Changing typing can be a breaking change, worthy of a semver bump. If something is Optional, you can't easily make it non-Optional. A user may have reasonably set it to None, and the change would pass typing errors on to that user.

@towers_kt @HBHarvest Thanks for recommending this! I made it today and it was really good. I used the full can of both pumpkin and coconut milk, so it was extra creamy. I didn't add cauliflower like you did, but it sounds like a nice addition for next time!

So after we launched our interactive command line website at root.vc, some people (*cough* investors) said it was confusing and they wanted a “simple website with tables of your portfolio companies.” Um, so. Careful what you ask for. root.vc/welcome.htm
