RIP. Illinois Police Officer Krystal Rivera was murdered when she was shot and killed during a confrontation with an armed subject. At 9:50 p.m. Officer Rivera was assigned to the Gresham District tactical team and was on routine patrol. They attempted to stop a man suspected of carrying a weapon on South Drexel Avenue. The officers pursued the suspect as he fled into an apartment building, where they encountered another armed individual. In the exchange of gunfire, Officer Rivera sustained fatal injuries while another officer was wounded in the wrist. Officer Rivera, 36, Officer Rivera had served with the Chicago Police Department for four years. She is survived by her daughter, who will be turning eleven this weekend without her mother. 🖤🙏💙🙏🖤 The two suspects fled the scene but were apprehended shortly thereafter. STOP SHOOTING MY POLICE OFFICERS!!!

Just in case you want to believe the false narrative that is portrayed by some, about officers, you have no clue! We are human, we have feelings, and we have people that love us. We do a job, even when people are against us or hate us. We put on a gun, a badge, and a vest every day, not knowing if we will take them off. We have love ones that tell us goodbye and they do not know if we will come back home. I have been doing this for 28 years. I normally do not get personal, but I want to share some things. I cannot sleep at night, because many times the nightmares of things I have seen haunt me. All officers have seen things they wish they never had. I have gone to scenes with unresponsive individuals, and was devastated because there was nothing I could do. I have gone to accidents, while on the way, I am praying that they are all OK, only to see that they are not. I have gone to homicide scenes where someone’s life was taken in an evil way, knowing that people loved them and their lives have been shattered. See you are welcome to think whatever you want to think, by listening to a narrative or by judging all officers by a few bad ones! Contrary to what you think, no one dislikes a bad officer more than the good officers! No matter how you feel about us, we will still show up when you need us, because that is what we took an oath to do! So until you stand beside the casket of a brother or sister in blue that was gunned down or killed in another manner, just serving and protecting, try to ponder what they went through!
