It was a time where the EN indie scene was much smaller, but Covid had way more people online all day looking for new content and social connection.
Pair that with pre-X Twitter, and it genuinely felt like everyone knew each other and anyone could succeed to some degree.

Dude, I keep seeing these posts everywhere and I’m hoping someone can actually break it down for me. VTubers constantly talk about the “good old days” of the pre-2021 era. They say back then the scene felt like a genuine tight-knit community where everybody pretty much knew each other. Now everything feels so different and not the same anymore. Is this purely nostalgia talking, or has the VTubing scene actually changed that much?

@Dullahnz YEAHHH my issue at the time was clinging too hard to the things that bothered me.. I think even though it’s taken a long time, seeing how much worse online spaces can get has pushed me more to just let stuff go. I wish I had been able to years ago

Once again, I‘ve made it to the beach for my yearly trip. I‘m happy to report that my swimming stamina has considerably improved. There were a lot of jellyfish, but I did not get stung!

I can’t speak for earlier than 2020, but it was never perfect by any means and I don’t it ever could be since all of us are individuals, but I specifically remember connecting with people in a way that feels impossible now. Maybe schedules or general attitudes or too many people
