Liverpool’s Calderstones are older than Stone Henge. They are the remains of a Neolithic chambered tomb (a burial monument) built around 4,000–3,000 BC - making them Liverpool’s oldest known monument. Originally part of a larger dolmen or passage grave, they were moved over time and are now protected inside Calderstones Park. The stones have prehistoric carvings like spirals, cup-and-ring marks, and other designs - is anyone familiar with these designs?

@JRC999 @keithjones84 Yes. At one time Walton Park was the parish cemetery for Liverpool. If you died in Liverpool Workhouse and no family or friends stepped in to do your funeral, they buried you at Walton Park.

Walton Vale, 1970s and 2026 I only recently heard that the Wetherspoons here is named The Raven because there is some Walton connection to Edgar Allen Poe. I think his illustrator was from there...
