On Senegal and Morocco I have 2 questions 😂 1. Will those that won betting be asked to return the money? 2. Will those that didn't win betting on this match file for them to be paid? #AFCON2025

Today, I had the honour of being sworn in as Minister of State for Finance of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am sincerely grateful to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the trust and confidence placed in me, and to the Senate for confirming my nomination. This appointment is not merely a personal milestone; it is a call to greater service. Nigeria faces important fiscal challenges, but also immense opportunities. The decisions we make in public finance today will shape the prosperity, stability, and well-being of our country for generations to come. In my new role, I will focus on supporting efforts to strengthen revenue mobilisation, promote fiscal discipline, and ensure that public resources translate into real improvements in the lives of Nigerians. I look forward to working more closely with the Honourable Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, colleagues across government, the National Assembly, private sector, and development partners to advance the mission of financing Nigeria for sustainable development. Public service demands integrity, humility, and dedication. I step into this responsibility with a deep sense of duty and commitment to Nigeria and the Nigerian people. Thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me along this journey. I will be counting on your continued support. The work begins. God bless Nigeria. #MinistryofFinance #FiscalReform #Nigeria #SustainableDevelopment

Mfonobong, mid-2024. 9 months applying the “normal” way in Lagos. Frontend dev, solid portfolio, decent LeetCode, still crickets. One Tuesday night he got tired of feeling invisible. He made a list: 18 early-stage Nigerian & remote-first startups whose product he actually used and liked. No job postings. Didn’t matter. He spent 40–60 minutes per company: - Used the product for real - Found 2–3 concrete things he’d improve (with quick mockups/screenshots) - Wrote short, non-desperate emails/DMs: “Hey [Name], I’ve been using [Product] for 3 months and love X & Y. One place I think could be 10× better is Z, here’s a 2-minute concept I threw together. Happy to build the first version for free next weekend if it’s useful. No strings.” He sent 18 of those over 9 days. Results: - 7 people opened/replied - 3 asked for 15-min calls - 2 led to small paid freelance gigs - 1 turned into a full-time offer (remote, decent pay bump) started 6 weeks later He didn’t get the mythical “cold outreach doesn’t work in Naija” memo. He just refused to stay on the invisible side of the screen. Go be the person who showed up. You’ve got this. 🔥

You really do not need to wait for companies to post vacancies. You should have three dream companies in mind. One to start your career, your mid-stage company as a lever (typically startups), and the global behemoths (the likes of Apple and Microsoft). Put in the work and be audacious. Don’t settle for less

Had a number of tough conversations over the weekend and it's getting harder to fight the hopelessness Nigeria engenders. If you're hopeful about Nigeria, please share what's driving it, let me tap into your grace.
