The Border Management Authority SA
LEBOMBO UPDATE- 4 MAY 2026 The Commissioner of the Border Management Authority (BMA), Dr Michael Masiapato reports that operations at the Lebombo Port of Entry have stabilised following increased traveller volumes experienced over the past weekend. On 3 May 2026, a total of 24 554 traveller movements were recorded, comprising 15 807 arrivals and 8 648 departures. The high volumes were attributed to month-end travel patterns, which resulted in longer queues during peak periods. The surge in movements began on Saturday, 2 May 2026, where a total of 21 920 travellers were processed. This included more than 10 404 travellers departing South Africa to Mozambique, while arrivals accounted for 11 516 travellers. Through coordinated efforts with key stakeholders, the BMA implemented operational measures to effectively manage the increased volumes and ensure the continued facilitation of legitimate travel. As of this morning, traffic flow at the port has significantly subsided, with minimal movement currently being observed. The Authority extends its appreciation to all officials and stakeholders for their coordinated efforts in managing the increased volumes.

Minister: International Relations and Cooperation
Today, I held a telephone conversation with Her Excellency Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, the newly appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria. I congratulated her on her appointment and reaffirmed the longstanding cordial relations between our countries. We agreed to further solidify our bilateral ties and deepen cooperation across all areas, including people-to-people relations. Additionally, we reflected on the challenges posed by irregular migration and committed to working to address the root causes, find common and sustainable solutions to this shared concern.

South Africans, this is your reminder, you have nothing in common with the political class telling you to hate and fight foreigners. They don’t ride the same taxis, they don’t queue in the same lines, and their children don’t attend the same schools. The enemy is mismanagement.

Large queues of Mozambican nationals have formed at the South Africa border ahead of a planned strike in Mozambique tomorrow. Many appear to be crossing into South Africa as uncertainty grows over the shutdown action. The current situation has raised concern over possible disruptions and border pressure.

I also want you guys to listen to his words, the man is very clear, he repeats it twice years apart that “we must make them feel like they’re represented” he doesn’t say we must represent them, just “make them feel like…”. If you don’t understand that then I can’t help you.😭😂

You can when you were meant to be a controlled opposition that had the mandate of splitting the black vote and pacifying a true potential revolution, which is what Julius Malema is. His intention was never to win elections and lead this country.

@HeidiGiokos @eNCA South Africa is starting to look like Colombia. It’s clear that spaza owners are working with people in government. Very soon you’ll see that the person who said Mazwi must be released is actually a minister. Anything is possible in this mini-Colombian country.

We are told that #Mazwi was dropped off in the middle of nowhere. He then asked for help and managed to get to the police station. He is currently receiving medical attention. He isn’t in the best condition. Seriously traumatised. @eNCA #Mazwi

BREAKING: Mazwi Kuhbeka has been found. He ‘rocked up’ at the police station. Provincial police commissioner General Tommy Mthombeni tells me they aren’t sure how he got there but he is currently at the Voslo Police Station, being questioned and then will be taken for a medical check. @eNCA #mazwi #MazwiKubheka
