I've always considered there's an inevitability to Ethereum addresses being replaced with #ENS names. However, it's not been happening fast enough for my liking. Especially in the domain of naming smart contracts. With DNS it took ten years for it to go from creation to mainstream adoption (source attached). This month, it's been 8 years since ENS was launched, and I don't think we're seeing it used as widely across the Ethereum ecosystem as it should be. There is no good reason why it should be used everywhere. My worry is that in our hyper tech accelerated world we live in, everyone is chasing the next big thing in #web3 is preventing them from seeing the obvious things right in front of them. We have an amazing solution in @ensdomains for getting rid of hex addresses for users. There's also a ton of teams doing brilliant work to grow ENS and provide excellent tooling for simplifying working with ENS names, including @ENS_DAO, @namespace_eth, @NamehashLabs, @eth_limo, @justaname_id, @namestonehq, @unruggable_eth, @efp and others I've forgotten (please tag more below). It's also fully deployed to some L2s including @base and @LineaBuild. The Ethereum community talks a lot about improving UX, but ENS enables a huge uplift for users right now if more teams focus on integrating it into their stacks. If it takes longer for ENS to eliminate hex in Ethereum then it did for DNS to replace IP addresses in the web, I think that's a fail on our part as a community. The technology is there now, we need to be thinking about utilising ENS naming whenever addresses are being generated. Be that in the creation of new wallet address, or in the deployment of smart contracts as we're doing with @enscribe_. We live in a hyper connected world, let's ensure ENS names become the default for users and we remove hex from the Ethereum user experience. #NameEveryContract #AccelerateENS #NoHexUX
