A special @CKiDStudy paper that I'm so pleased is supported by @NIDDKgov, @kidney_int, @kidneywiki. This tool helps predict pediatric CKD progression to KRT (online at kidney.wiki). We did our best and our hope is that it is useful for clinicians treating ped CKD.
NIDDK@NIDDKgov

ICYMI, NIDDK-supported @CKiDStudy built a prediction tool to accurately estimate when children with #ChronicKidneyDisease need kidney replacement therapy (KRT), which will guide clinical planning & treatment. Led by @ngderekk @JohnsHopkinsSPH @Kidney_Int pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/37391041/

Big congratulations to @jasonhaw for his defense and brilliant thesis! It is difficult to keep up with @JohnsHopkinsEPI students and he was one of the worst offenders! 🙃 A great celebration of his accomplishment, and this is just the beginning for this talented epidemiologist!

Pediatric nephrology tools at your fingertips... and FAST (it can be tough to cover up a primo wallpaper like this example but sometimes you need important info). Try out the kidney.wiki app and please explore the CKiD Pediatric Time to KRT Prediction Calculator!

HUGE News! Our KI paper on a prediction model for pediatric kidney replacement therapy has been translated into an accessible clinical tool on kidney.wiki! Check out the tutorial by Dr. Town (@kidneywiki) below and access the paper here sciencedirect.com/science/articl…

🆕 from @CKiDStudy and kidney.wiki! The time to kidney replacement therapy (KRT) calculator kidney.wiki/krt-risk-calcu… Estimate the time remaining until a patient with CKD will require dialysis or transplant. I have found it super useful in clinic!

Really great to have such tools in clinical practice! Of course, need for further external validation while keeping an unbiased clinical decision when making plans with the patients but the more tools we have like this, the easier our work is. Great job!

@joshuaasamuels @asouth_neph @HyperAHA @drjosflynn So taken in the context of the Great ESCAPE (haha) clinical trial, treating BP has an important clinical benefit. This observational study potentially points to treating nocturnal and hopefully an RCT at some point can answer this (timing antihypertensive therapy, I suppose).

@asouth_neph @drjosflynn @HyperAHA @joshuaasamuels I suspect that excluding load would be more specific because we currently classify people with abnormal load as HTN who would now be classified as normotensive. Generally, high load will also have high mean, so hopefully the misclassification bias is not too high!
