@miles_commodore High school teacher here. We do this. At least in NH with a requirement of Econ and Personal Finance. But, there is also a responsibility of a parent to bestow these life skills on their children as well.

Every public high school in America should be teaching how credit cards work, how to get a mortgage, and what mutual funds are and how they function. 16th century English literature is great, but how about equipping our children with what they need in the REAL world.

Between social media destroying our attention spans, AI companies trying to hook us on their slop, and the endless political insanity, one of the most radical things you can do right now is find a quiet corner and read a book.

We are sending our kids to school to memorize facts that AI can retrieve in 0.3 seconds. We're grading them on essays that AI writes better than their teachers. We're preparing them for jobs that won't exist by the time they graduate. The entire education system is training humans to compete with machines at what machines do best. That's not education. That's sabotage. The schools that survive will teach thinking, not memorizing. Creating, not repeating. Discerning, not obeying. Every other school is a museum that doesn't know it yet.

@EdKrassen With final consumers paying a brunt of the tarrifs, plywood small businesses get the refund? The costs were passed on to consumers so shouldn't the consumers get it? Also, are businesses going to bring prices down to reflect the fact that they're not paying tariffs anymore?

BREAKING: Trump's illegal tariffs are about to cause a huge mess in the US Economy. Why? "A coalition of 800 small businesses across the country who weren't happy about the tariffs saying they were the ones paying the brunt of these costs. They just put out a statement saying they are sending immediate letters to the white house and congress demanding full, fast and automatic tariff refunds. We talk about how the refunds work for the tariffs, how messy you envision this getting?" Businesses will now request refunds, and there will likely be huge class action lawsuits against the US government. Additionally, the budget is about to have major issues.

@msuster The fact that I see so many people conflating socialism and communism is mind-boggling. Howd you get in positions of power without knowing basic economics? You all are worried about the wrong Boogeyman. Focus on totalitarianism. Govs systems much more worse than econ systems.

Another example of socialist being taught economics 101 by somebody who has learned the hard way. Ask anybody in Argentina, Venezuela or any other place where gov’ts have mismanaged economies in the name of populism. Ask anybody in Russia about “free” groceries, transportation or housing. Find me anybody dying to flee the US to move to Cuba.

@Clint30604664 @ThomasSowell Those taxes only go to a portion of maintenance. Not full costs of annualized maintenance and upkeep. And you're still focusing on only the things you use directly which goes against communal contribution. You forget the police, ambulance, fire, sidewalks, etc

@nhjbteach @ThomasSowell I pay for roads when I purchase gasoline through the gas tax and car registration. I pay for utilities when I pay my water bill, natural gas bill, electricity bill etc.
