Today, my dissertation was published online: open.library.ubc.ca/cIRcle/collect… Do I expect anyone to read it? Absolutely not. So, here’s a summary of my past 4.5 years of research about how trust is built during collaborative natural resource governance involving Indigenous communities

Red is the route I’ve taken so far, blue is the proposed second leg of the journey Finally getting to Vancouver has put some wind back in my sails to really document and make art from this trip Abandoned mining roads, very little pavement, some nasty backcountry Stoked

My personal top-5 favorite graphs/exhibits from Claudia #Goldin papers 1. Gender pay gap is present in (almost) all occupations, even controlling for age, race and education. Why? Because of the "value placed on the hours and job continuity of workers" aeaweb.org/articles?id=10…

The Nobel Prize in Economics has been awarded to Claudia Goldin. Most economists will immediately know why she won. This is a very quick thread, aimed at non-economists, explaining why her work on the the labour market outcomes of women has been awarded the Prize.

Today’s agenda included a visit to Pictou Landing First Nation. They have a fleet of 24(!) fishing vessels that harvest lobster and crab, guide tuna charters and operate their own in-house marine service shop.

@nhotte Thanks. Wasn't sure if the Russian trawlers were blitzing the fishing grounds, to get as much as possible over the short term while ignoring effects on longer-term fish stock and harvest.

Russia being blamed for the collapse in ex-vessel prices for Alaska salmon: “Russia harvested pink volume equivalent to the entire Alaska pink annual forecast, and [are willing] to offload inventory at very low prices in part to fund the war in Ukraine” nationalfisherman.com/alaska/economi…
