Balochistan is our only province/federating unit which did not vote thru assembly or referendum to join Pk. Its a federating unit but instead of getting choice like other units got what other princely states got-rulers deciding. But there were huge differences btw it and the 5-6 other princely states that joined pak. -all of them were geographically much smaller. -none of them became a province/federating unit with their name as part of the acronym "Pakistan". They were absorbed into other provinces and became small parts of them geographically and population wise. -They were all ethnically similar to the provinces they were absorbed in. -their links to British india and earlier indian states was much stronger than that of Baloch areas. -They soon had provincial elections in 1951 along with rest of province while Balochistan had its 1st provincial assembly only in 1971. even that was dissolved by Bhutto in 1973. -none of the other princely states had major revolts repeatedly. So, in Balochistan's case, its a long history of abuse and neglect by the state. there needs to be redemption for that. but state is still bent on abuses.

The Pak state owes huge and prolonged apologies to ordinary Baloch people delivered by its highest honchos for 77 years of huge atrocities, backed by concrete actions to redress the huge and genuine grievances, like hoisting rigged regimes, disappearances, resource control and poverty. The first step must be immediate fully free elections and full powers to elected people to handle disappearances and other issues with the center providing full cooperation. Otherwise, things are near a cliff and could spill out of control much more.
