My friends over at @NationalDefence have launched a really... Interesting contest. Here is the scenario they'd like you to think about: Intelligence has indicated that an adversary nation has recently felt emboldened to stake a physical claim within the Canadian Arctic and enforce it militarily. Canada has responded through multiple avenues to dissuade any territorial incursion. However, these efforts have all failed and Canada stands alone in attempting to protect its sovereign territory. It has established a floating base between Ellesmere and Devon Islands in the eastern portion of the Canadian Arctic. Reports have indicated that the adversarial nation is currently outside of Canada’s territorial claim, and they are posed to move forward and claim Arctic lands in the name of their government.

I've known @jackclarkSF for I guess... 15 years now? I would consider him a best friend. Jack is a very sincere and thoughtful man. I've watched him for the past 5 years grapple with the weight of his reality, I've watched him think through how to go about preparing the unprepared for the unpreparable. Jack is not full of shit. Jack is not a marketing lacky. Jack is highly intelligent. Jack means what he says. Jack is a brilliant mind who cares deeply about all of us, and we are lucky to have him. I like Keith Rabois quit a lot, but compared to Jack, he is a child. Listen to Jack folks. Please.

nah I disagree. timing is so important. if I were starting a company today, I’d map out every <1yr headwind/tailwind and figure out how to ride one of the tailwinds into a headwind

I strongly agree with Paul here. There is way too much startup glamourization. Most startups fail. Working at a real startup no a LARP factory fucking sucks. Discipline is everything, finish what you start. Most importantly: startup is not glamorous.

Just wired the funds. Super proud to be in vibes. Chris and I have been friends for over 10 years now, he's one of the best in the world, co-created couchdb, can't wait to see where this goes. We have a strong thesis on vibe coding, although this isn't a strictly Canadian team, it shows our commitment to the space!

Anyone in Canada doing time release wakeup stuff similar to Zest or B Sync? Generally think time release stuff is going to be interesting as the mechanisms for dispersement become more sophisticated.

@nibi_vc @iwantmyname good that they did. i've been a fan for about a decade now. and they are destroying themselves overnight this month… search for latest mentions of @iwantmyname on X. you can't even transfer domains our and support does not respond at all!

I still think @iwantmyname is the best registrar around and I'm ngl I'm kinda pissed DigitalOcean removed them from the recommended domains list. When we started, I put them as the top recommended registrar for a reason. (The new UX is good btw!)
