I know what you're getting at, but "continuing the story" is not "running out of ideas". Ripping off a "gimmick" is. They have been running out of ideas for a long time. Just look at all the mechanics that are essentially copies of other mechanics (this is not, everything is kicker, I'm talking about morph vs disguise and definitely "ooh, I'm just going to color swap things and that's going to be the gimmick!") Even with Ravnica, the Guilds got all new mechanics. That's not running out of ideas, that's continuing the story. Even using the SAME mechanics would be fine if you went back to the same plane, but they have this warped idea that they have to always create new mechanics. Thus uber repetition and "running out of ideas"

Wotc did this with @BraunDuinIt , @SamuelHBlack & Brad Nelson for ModernHorizons2 and it came out the best set of all time. I don't know if they every did it again, but I'm certainly grateful they did it for MH2. 🙏 #MTG

This templating cannot be recycled ad infinitum. Credit to my friend Casey who notes that these cards are too visually similar considering they all work really fucking differently.

@jakeformayor Your version is way different in the context of Strixhaven. It being an instant to trigger all the instant/sorcery stuff is the whole point of this in this set.

idk this just seems like a reasonable card without having to engagement bait us with the words "Ancestral Recall" but hey, cool flavor I guess. Let's see if they run it back three more ways this year.

Not a huge sample size, Ive been pretty disappointed by Lorwyn Limited. Feels like Ixalan, lots of bad cards, have to commit to one type early and hope you get all the right pieces. Only 5 supported color pairs never works imo, Blight is bad. Really missing common duals too.
