Artist talk with → @niceaunties 👵💖 presenting her ongoing project The Auntieverse! (we launched it on 2023!) 🗓️ July 13, 11:00 AM EST at 📍Harvard University → CAMLab Cave, Lower Level, 485 Broadway, Cambridge, MA. 🎟️ Free and open to the public. The Auntieverse is an imaginary parallel universe populated by aunties and fantastical creatures made of plastic and trash, with recurring characters appearing across images and video narratives. The project grows through everyday life, history, pop culture, and the small rituals of daily observation. The work documents and reinterprets a generation of aunties, their behaviors, quirks, and forms of expression, functioning as a living archive. Many scenes do not exist in reality: generative technology creates them, and every image and video is then refined through manual editing, compositing, and storytelling. niceaunties is a Singapore-based artist, designer, and public speaker whose practice centers on the cultural figure of the "auntie," exploring food, beauty, care, and environmental awareness through digital art, mixed media, and technology.

Small cute things for world peace — a lo-fi look at cannes lions 🧵 Was in @Cannes_Lions last week with my host Culture3 (amazing agency) and met a lot of fantastic humans. Fantastic because beyond being smart and accomplished, they care deeply about the world and want to cocreate a better one. While everyone relished the aftermath of a celebratory week of lions, thanking one another profusely, i found myself reflecting on the small and nonhuman things that filled the spaces between us.

My inner auntie did complain though. the heat was overwhelming, not enough shade at the croisette, i nearly expired from heat stroke. plant more trees. parasols or umbrella hats instead of paper fans. electrolytes instead of alcohol. and more small nonhuman things that stir the human inner child...miniature cameras, friendly cats, other cute and invisible things. ☮️🫶🥰

Serious as they are, executives, cultural leaders and the sharpest minds broke into their widest smiles at the tiny kodak with its miniature screen. "oh i thought that was a keychain!" "omg that's SOO cute"... just like one would respond to a baby. or to meowmeow. It was in those moments of lowered inhibition i understood: there are healthier, joyful, nonalcoholic ways to combat social anxiety. like my friend @DearFranny said : kodak charmera for world peace.
