I've always had a vision for ALWAYS HAS BEEN to have a physical element. I wanted it to be very intentional and an integral part of the artwork. So as I was creating the digital side, I was in parallel creating the physical side and often each would inform the other. I had this idea of using fiber optic cables as a way to manipulate light and so I experimented a lot with it. One of my early experiments used the fiber optics to sculpt a light tree. At that point the digital side had more of a molecular aesthetic, but this physical fiber optic light tree informed the digital side and so I transmuted that tree back into the digital, which is the form you see today for the window. The physical sculptures for ALWAYS HAS BEEN (i.e. The Relics) are a central part of the work. Only 3 are guaranteed to exist, the others will be determined by the collectors of the event and Fenestra tokens. The digital and the physical deeply coupled together both artistically but also cryptographically. ALWAYS HAS BEEN event token mint is still open... alwayshasbeen.xyz/mint

It’s hard to overstate this, but the entire site is @SamSpratt. It is his design and his vision. There was nobody translating it into what it is, it was Sam’s own mettle directly interfacing with Claude Code. I knew Sam was smart, but he really shocked me with how much he was able to do own his own. I was only there to remove something ahead of him on the ground that might trip him up or nudge him slightly in one direction to avoid falling down a sinkhole, so he could stay laser focus on his world and how to bring it to life. And every once in a while, I’d open a door that I happened to have the key for. But it was him that walked with purpose, chose the direction to go in, and picked the doors he wanted to go through. I’m truly impressed by you Sam and glad I could provide a little bit of help in the long journey ahead of you.

Over the years when making art, it can get fragmented. Spread across platforms & posts. The people who contribute to it too. With the places we've relied on to house our creations shutting down, I wanted to see if I could figure out how to give this work and story a proper home.
