@CounterStrike thanks a million! 15 years playing the franchise and over 10,000 hours accumulated. Having contributed everyone’s favorite Mil-Spec in the fever case, this is a trophy worth treasuring. Thank you. When I get more time, I hope to contribute a map in some capacity.

@friendlycsss Pretty sure there was a Valve dev that publicly stated they see item values that exceed Steam wallet limits as a problem

Valve trying to crash skin prices below 2000$ so they get more steam sales has to be the most bullshit thing ive ever heard. I think this is the real reasons behind all these tradeup updates. ⤵️

I’m a LVL 10 / 27k Premier bot, so don’t judge me, but I’ve seen multiple plays in this Major’s Stage 1 that I see every day in Premier. Not clearing angles, two players watching the same angle, throwing useless utility, no crossfires while holding sites...

@I_am_jerm Test this against when they update the armory lol. I’ll bet with you that >50% of ‘nevers’ buy another pass.

IAMJERM - Buying CS2 Skins@I_am_jerm·
the most common comment and most upvoted comments I am getting on my youtube videos now are people talking about how they will never buy another armory pass Pretty impressive how hard valve has fumbled this and how they do not have their finger on the pulse of the community at all

What happened to skins being a flex? We used to compare them to owning a Mercedes, a Rolex, and having a wedged jawline.

Guys guys guys, they’re not suppressing supply or fighting over supply. They’re literally trying to increase supply of more rare items to get as many items as possible under the Steam wallet threshold of 2000 USD. It’s not in their interest for a significant portion of the market to be traded off of the steam market. - Trade-ups mean higher demand items increase in supply. - Terminals mean they can controllably undercut prices in the market to ensure that they can adequately pressure supply. - The Sticker shop is a regulatory risk reduction and commercial maximization idea- they literally said this in the update. 3 years of CS2 development, a lack of new content in during the development, an anomalous increase in player base due to COVID + hype for the new game, is what let the market get out of control. Knives and Gloves in the armory are extremely likely, what do you all think will happen then? Valve are not destroying the market, they’re just returning it to their control.

I think that terminals, the new sticker system is more indicative of valve trying to keep supply suppressed moreso than fighting gambling regulation, but the changes sure don't hurt. The fact that they aren't removing the fever case is the only reason why I think this, it's not consistent with everything else they're doing

The only way to mitigate the demand increase is to lower the clamp value of the maximum tokens (ie, rather than maximum cost of 2000 USD, they set to 500 USD). Prices will balance equally in between. Very interesting to see if they do it, or just let prices be prices till they remove the major items.

I’m usually pretty calm when valve does some bullshit, but I feel like this might be the straw that broke the camels back What sense does it make to hold skins anymore?

I’ve woken up 27 times thinking I’m no longer going to be able to redeem these collections, only to see I still have 1 more last chance. Thank you Valve for so many chances. 🙏

The symbolic meaning of this update is bigger than its actual impact. It confirms Valve’s stance more clearly than ever: encouraging player-to-player trading while improving asset data transparency. But realistically, Steam Market activity will still remain far below third-party platforms — unless Valve eventually allows Steam balance withdrawals.
