Shameful that criminal charges were filed against Kalshi. @mansourtarek_ and @luanalopeslara have built a fully licensed and federally regulated company the right way from the outset. Keep going 💪

in many ways BigLaw firms are communist/socialist...the "lockstep compensation" system is anti-meritocratic...but everyone is so overpaid even on lockstep very few can be bothered to complain...

Appreciate the official recognition as the first-ever DCM to be designated a prediction market by the @CFTC in their most recent Proposed Rulemaking! We were also the first regulated sports prediction market in the country too 💪 cftc.gov/PressRoom/Pres…

@WALLACHLEGAL When I saw that in their filing, I had a completely different opinion and launched the first ever federally regulated sport contract a month later.

I’m old enough to remember when Kalshi represented to a federal appeals court—in Nov. 2024! — that “a contract on the outcome of a sporting event” is the “classic example” of “gaming" and “Congress did not want sports betting to be conducted on derivatives markets." #Complete180

We're going to be setting very clear standards as to the types of prediction markets that can be self-certified in our markets. We’re also planning to move forward with an advanced notice of proposed rulemaking in the near future that will set the stage for more fulsome prediction markets rulemaking.

America is the global center of financial markets and technological innovation. Embracing prediction markets is not just common sense, but what the law of the land requires. @MichaelSelig is leading from the front and ensuring that the United States stays on top. Very proud and pleased with the @CFTC proactive actions in protecting its licensees and America’s financial markets. @OG_com and @cryptocom were the first CFTC licensed platform to offer sports prediction markets and we expect to be the first to offer many more industry firsts within the protections and regulatory frameworks that have served this country well for nearly 100 years. More to come 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

“The CFTC will no longer sit idly by while overzealous state governments undermine the agency’s exclusive jurisdiction over these markets by seeking to establish statewide prohibitions on these exciting products,” @MichaelSelig⁩ writes in the WSJ. wsj.com/opinion/states…

If you trigger 3 of the prohibited categories in Rule 40.11(a)(1) with just one prediction market, do they cancel each other out? With the non-enforcement of the “gaming” regulatory ban since January 2025, the CFTC has now hit for the proverbial cycle of looking the other way.

BREAKING: The odds Ali Khamenei is out as Supreme Leader have surged to 68% Reminder: Kalshi does not offer markets that settle on death. If Ali Khamenei dies, the market will resolve based on the last traded price prior to confirmed reporting of death.

Prediction markets are regulated in the same way as other financial products traded on @CFTC licensed exchanges and are just a small portion of the $500 trillion notional derivatives market in the US.

This is the exact same language Gary Gensler used to try to shut down crypto. Fortunately, we are a nation of laws, and, just like Gary found out, courts will ultimately look to statutory language, not politicized value-judgment analogies.
Chris Christie@GovChristie

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck…sports gambling is NOT a derivative, it is NOT an investment. It IS a bet and predictive market sites are offering sports gambling in violation of the laws of all 50 states. It’s as simple as that. drive.google.com/file/d/1gcVm5d…

Pro athletes are literally built differently. I went to high school with 2 successful MLB pitchers. Craziest story came from freshman year: During tryouts, one of the tests they had us do was to see how far we could throw a baseball. We walked out to the football practice field and lined up in the end zone. I threw 60-65 yards. Then a kid (the future pro) threw a ball out of the other end zone. As. A. Freshman. Every coach stopped what they were doing, handed him another ball and said “do it again”. And he did. By sophomore year he was throwing in the mid to upper 90’s. You cannot teach that kind of arm talent. You’re either born with it or you’re not. I was not.

@garrytan It’ll be an immediate disaster if implemented. WA has been successful for decades despite itself. It’s now on the verge of not being successful because of itself. At least let the people of WA vote on the most consequential matter to hit the state since Mt St Helens erupted.

I guess the Seattle SuperSonics aren't coming back after all. Washington’s proposed millionaire tax is already spooking the NBA. It’s just one part of a tax stack that would hit founders and small businesses harder than anywhere in America. garryslist.org/posts/washingt…

once the Gensler era ended & there was no longer a regulatory distortion to the market for governance structures, we had the opportunity for revealed preference founders and VCs revealed they don't prefer DAOs governing the social/offchain aspects of their projects this is in line with what I predicted in my BORGs article...true DAOs are really 'code governing code', they obey the three laws of DAObotics outlined in the original Stan Larimer vision of DAOs... x.com/MetaLeX_Labs/s…

Having no income tax in Washington State has always been one of the single biggest reasons that people move here. This new income tax will kick that advantage to the curb and a whole lot of good people are going to leave. Another big issue is that no one trusts our government to ever do anything that actually benefits Washingtonians.

Look, people cannot like prediction markets happening, but saying companies are not suitable for licensure because they do PMs is a bit much. Other licensed company categories that are doing PMs: -Data -Geolocation -Payments -Affiliates Are all of these operating illegally too?
𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐥𝐭𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐚𝐟𝐟𝐚@carltontsaffa

In an amazingly bold move both FanDuel and DraftKings appear to be seeking casino gaming licensure in our state. Both companies are heavily engaged in the very illegal practice of Prediction Markets. Who says what they do is illegal? Our Attorney General: ag-opinions.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2025-0…
