@AStratelates @suzania 1/ Traditions that have spent millennia refining attention, perception, interior discipline and the structure of consciousness have something to teach us. 1 Thess 5:21 doesn’t come with a clause about acceptable sources. If Christ is the Logos, then all truth participates in Him.

@CarlMcColman Nobody has yet articulated a Buddhist metaphysical grammar fusing eschatological drama and incarnational stakes. I suspect fusion, if it comes, will be born of reality itself evolving—contemplative depth co-constituted through dynamic reciprocity, alive to context and current.

@AStratelates @suzania end\ But few are called to advanced, contemplative, psychospiritual rabbit holes. Most believers—and pastors—are simply trying to live faithfully and know scripture a little more deeply. However partial or flawed their efforts, there's immense dignity, grace and mercy there.

@SherPoint 9/ "How can I announce the good news of reconciliation unless I am that?" (Nouwen) These days I’m wholly devoted to a small, rural, conservative congregation, the sublime Christian love of my church family and the supernal beauty of deeply prayerful, intensely corporate faith.

How should Christians understand and fight intrusive thoughts? This essay challenges modern psychological explanations of OCD and points believers to a biblical understanding of intrusive thoughts, emphasizing Christ, Scripture, and the hope of sanctification. ow.ly/fwnF50YYZuh

@SophiaCycles The 'certain proportion' being extreme severity coupled with exhaustion? And the decisive factor isn't pain alone but the failure of evasion: self-examination stops being decorative and becomes existential. Here, notably, optionality is not the deepest feature of consciousness.
Nick Routledge@nick_routledge

27/ But even the logic we've traced—the scandal of non-coercive awakening—has its own eschatological horizon. The very structure of optionality applies not to eternal features of consciousness, but to the conditions that are themselves temporary, marks of the age between Advents.

Only when the distress reaches a certain proportion are we likely to look within, to reexamine the principles and perceptions that govern our lives, or to enter a serious self-examination. Yet it is in those moments that the opening to a larger life begins. ~James Hollis

@gracie88888 @jeff_bilbro He was actually referring to truck farming, the classic small scale organic farming model - the farms, say, typically selling locally at farmers markets, as distinct from, say, homestead farm-gardens.

Garth is one of the most thoughtful and intellectually honest thinkers I know who is tackling the wicked agrarian challenges we face. Don't miss his latest essay.
Garth Brown@garthcbrown

either way, I want to make the case that there is value with preserving in farming done correctly, and that you aren't alone if vats of tissue and bodyoids creep you out. As always, thanks to @FrontPorchRepub for the opportunity. frontporchrepublic.com/2026/05/the-pr…

I really love food producing perennials - they are beautiful, come back every year, and compound over time - but they do carry some risk relative to annuals. Some years you get a bad harvest due to erratic Spring weather. With annuals you can wait for the right time to plant

@jeff_bilbro 6/ The deepest agrarianism is the recovery of a covenantal relation between land, labor, creatureliness and future generations, in which humanity becomes conscious participants in evolution’s moral direction. The crisis is not merely agricultural, but metaphysical.

@jeff_bilbro 5/ And yet transitions rarely begin at the scale they later acquire. The community orchard, seed library, commons, or modern landrace—these will appear marginal or quaint right until systemic fragility reveals they're preserving survival options the dominant order has discarded.

@jeff_bilbro The deepest shift isn't monetization but the fusion of corporate and geopolitical power engineering narrative-consciousness within a single operational stack. The predatory seizure of sensemaking itself goes infrastructural, ambient and generatively amplified at planetary scale.

@DanielPinchbeck @EFF 2/ Succumbing to a systemic form of machine-driven diabolism isn't an X-specific phenomenon, of course. The trend is implicitly embedded in the very structure of the total regime that folds culture, technology, psyche, ecology, and power into one extractive continuum.

@jeff_bilbro end\ And the consequence? Representation corrupted at a scale and velocity where the shared architecture of knowing, meaning and being, the very landscape of experience, is now so denatured, it reveals a civilizational epistemology that has lost its claim to carry reality.

@suzania McLuhan averred that any technology, pushed to extremes, generates the opposite of its promise. The mediated abstraction of truth is no exception. At their limit, anti-incarnational powers no longer secure reality but sever themselves from it, their logic consumed from within.

It's surreal to experience the crowding out of useful information online. Today the pull cord on my lawn mower broke, and I couldn't find a You Tube video showing how to reassemble the spring and new cord. It was just SEO clickbait slop all the way down.

@lukeburgis Enshittification: 1. The moment shipping stops being about moving packages and becomes a sacrificial ritual performed to appease shareholder expectations. 2. The point at which the real driver is no longer the package but the mimetic escalation surrounding it. 3. Shitshow logic.

I walked into a UPS in Washington, DC and said I needed to ship a single hardcopy book (1 pound) to Norway, with a letter from me inside. "We don't have anything but an expedited option," she said. The clerk punched things on her computer, then looked up and with a deadpan face handed me this.
