Excited to finally post about this paper in Paleobiology I’ve been working on with Isaac Krone and @the_rock_hobbit It’s our first order approximation of what could end up in the fossil record of the future 🦴⏰🐸 You can check it out here: doi.org/10.1017/pab.20…

@PaleoJB @NSF @UMichPaleo @sarahlsheffield @ForamWhisperer @FossilDetective Darn! I’m bad with time periods, but honestly if it isn’t a rhenopyrgid or isorophid I’m not getting very far. (If it is one of those then I really stink 🤣)
English

@nick_smith_28 @NSF @UMichPaleo @sarahlsheffield @ForamWhisperer @FossilDetective Very close Nick!!!
✅ group = edrioasteroids
✅ feature = anal pyramid
❌ time period is not Cambrian

🤔#WhatIsItWednesday...?
#PaleoEchino @NSF grant at @UMichPaleo should be a good starting hint...
⭐️ if you get the specific group
⭐️⭐️ + if you get the prominent feature
⭐️⭐️⭐️ + if you get species & time period

@paulharnik @PaleoJB @echinoblog @maggie_limbeck I have only dabbled briefly with echinoid bits with my work on brittle star bits and I believe you can get a general sense of genera but that’s about as far as it can go. @maggie_limbeck would definitely be the better expert here.

@sarahlsheffield I wonder if it’s more of a stigma that they think there are no jobs in the paleo sector so it automatically makes them think paleo is, for lack of better words, not want they want to do? But yes, I’ve heard this in many different iterations. 😭
