As I was preparing my remarks for tonight’s national vigil for victims of gun violence I got several texts about the latest shooting, this time in Las Vegas. I look forward to the day I can write a speech about gun violence as history and not a headline.

I am an Israeli Jew. This is probably the worst week of my life. And yet today of all days it bears repeating: the only way to end this cycle is by working for freedom and dignity for all. For all. On all sides, our blood is the same color and our tears taste the same.

@MarkJacob16 @mame6432 I don’t know why people believe Kristen Welker is going to be any better or different from Chuck Todd. She was a big pusher of #butheremails and, in addition to Dana Bash, was one of the reporters dined by Team Trump at a steakhouse in Milwaukee. She’s a MAGA.

Fifty years today, hell was unleashed on the working people of Chile. Nixon and Kissinger couldn’t abide a democratically elected socialist president so Chile’s peaceful road met with a brutal response. Chilean author Ariel Dorfman is your read of the day. thenation.com/article/world/…

My favorite story of the Women’s World Cup is these women succeeding in spite of the lack of resources they have. Their country needs to get behind them financially. The success of women in sports is often undermined by lack of investment.
Front Office Sports@FOS

Jamaica had to launch a GoFundMe to help pay for their trip to the Women’s World Cup. They just knocked out Brazil — and are headed to the Round of 16 for the first time in the nation’s history.

So, the federal government can’t communicate to social media companies because that somehow violates the free speech clause of the Fist Amendment, but the government in Florida can actually fire teachers if they mention the word “gay” and that’s cool with the First Amendment?

"There is a boldness to black pregnancy, an insolence to it. it disrespects the order of things. The frank audacity—to publicly parade the intention to continue to exist within a nation that has monetized your disappearance—is itself [an] act of defiance." bit.ly/46uWtAm

Switching Codes with Eric Deggans
This is a basic misunderstanding of what journalism is. It is absolutely our job to discern what is accurate and what is not. It’s like saying a plumber’s job isn’t to find water leaks.
Zee Strong@ZeeStrong60

@Deggans It's not their job to decide what is true it's up to the viewers it's their job to present news in an Unbiased manner and let We The People decide this is straight up censorship

Journo students — you could spend an hour trawling the internet for story ideas. Or you could spend that same hour talking with a community member and leave with 5+ banger story ideas that no one else has and a new source for life. Try it. Trust me.

Dear media reporters: please don’t do with Tucker stories today what a lot of political reporters did with Trump stories in the past. Don’t call his statements ‘provocative’ etc. Call them racist. Call them bigoted. Call them what they *actually* were. Don’t sanitize them please.
