We stopped waking our kids up for school. 4 kids ages 9 - 15 in 4 different schools. Last week my wife and I woke up and were like "What are we even doing? Why are we waking up our kids for school? Over and over? Oh, and why are we still making the 9 year old's lunch?" We want them to be high agency people, and to experience consequences. They all have alarm clocks. And hands. But sometimes we don't live according to what we believe. So we stopped waking them up and making them lunch - cold turkey. Kids were late. Panic ensued (for like 2 days). No one died or starved. We should have done it years ago. If you let them fail small at home then the failure will be much more manageable outside of the home. That's the gamble we're taking, anyway. I'll let you know if it works in 30 years.

Understood. If you ever have any office hours or presentations open to the public, I'd love to attend. I've been doing budget coaching for high-income clients for about 8 years. Currently in the process of getting my CFP and hope to sit for my exam later this year. Really appreciate learning from you and all that you share here.

@nickdtrue It’s a pretty niche group of advisors that work with HNW/UHNW clients at mostly RIAs and other wealth management companies

My roommate and lifting partner in college was an ardent atheist. I've been a devout Christian my entire life. We spent every waking moment together, from the dorm room to the gym. I truly loved him like a brother. After school ended, we went our separate ways and talked, at most, once a year. He called me the other day to let me know he was having twins. This was literally one year after my Wife and I had ours. In addition to the news of the babies, he let me know that he had dedicated his life to the Lord Jesus Christ. I wept. We debated theology constantly in school. He would go with me to church every once in a while because he said he liked the "hot girls." I didn't care, I just wanted him to sit under hot Gospel preaching. I felt like I failed him in a lot of ways. My answers weren't always the most buttoned up, and although I was living for the Lord, he still saw my sin daily. Hearing his testimony, I was reminded that I have no power to save. It is the Lord's and His alone. Let me encourage you to not grow weary in doing good. You may not see the fruit of your efforts for years, or ever at all. But, seeing the fruit is not your duty. Planting and watering it is.

I started taking on clients in November 2025. I currently work with 3 households. AUM = $710,000 My goal for 2026 is to reach $10,000,000 of AUM. I don’t have minimums to work with me. I charge AUM and/or flat fee. Depends on the clients situation. Excited for the future!🙌

The idea here is to start a service B2B digital marketing business. So he's selling Landing pages, copywriting, social media etc... as a service to a business. That business is probably ecommerce, or media, or a service company. For example, I used to do copywriting and digital marketing for financial service companies and financial conferences. In this case, the kid is selling projects. So he can deliver that on nights/weekends no problem.

A client came in the other day.
His 26-year-old son tagged along. He’s working full-time.
Pays his bills.
Wants more control over his income. And he’s trying to build a side hustle.
His goal?
Make $10k a month.
Nights and weekends only. Ambitious.
Not impossible.
But he has no idea where to start.
What kind of business can a motivated 26-year-old grow outside his 9–5
that could realistically reach $10k/month?

@natesolon As someone who films software and budgeting tutorials for a living - I've found the videos with my head do WAY better. I think it's as others have said, the personal human connection.

Thinking out loud, why does every chess opening video and course have a talking head? I get it if you're a great presenter like Gotham, but for most chess coaches, wouldn't it make more sense just to have a board and voiceover?

Is there a daily email like Ryan Holiday's Daily Stoic but from a Christian POV? Regular lessons and takeaways from the Bible along with related content from other Christian thinkers and theologians? I would read that every day...

@AndrewBlackFlag TN could definitely use some bolstering up of red. And that makes sense on the size! We just moved to a town of ~ 30k, after being in Knox County with 200k. So it's all relative! Lots of folks are moving to Williamson Co. I've got quite a few friends there. It's beautiful.

@nickdtrue Williamson County. Bear in mind, I live in the suburbs of NY, so overgrown to you would probably feel borderline rural for me. It would be nice to also live in a red state for once and contribute to turning it redder.

Talked to my wife about how, for the first time in seriously considering moving out of NY to TN. What are the odds today that we run into a guy who happens to have just moved from the exact town I was thinking of moving to?

The problem I see most often is a behavioral problem. People have a fixed amount they want to invest with after tax dollars (let's say $7,000 to max out the IRA). They try to decide Roth vs Traditional. What they miss is that if they go Traditional, they need to take the tax break and also invest that money. In reality, the average person from a behavioral standpoint is unlikely to take the tax savings and invest it. They will instead likely spend it. So for the average person, just go Roth as it will result in more money being invested.

"Go ROTH today because the taxes are less on the smaller amount then what it would be in the future" That's not how it works though Lets say you have $10k pretax to invest in your 401(k) $10k, 30 years, 8% = $1,132,832.11 then lets say it all comes out at 22% (which is not how it works, it would come through brackets) = $883,609 Or $10k taxed at 22% now means you put in $7,800 FV of that at 30 years at 8% = $883,609.05 The same result People really miss this But... this is also not how it works Today, you defer or pay tax at the top marginal rate Then you withdraw through multiple brackets so the effective rate matters Then you need to factor in: - what you have in each now - future expected earning - when you plan to retire - roth conversions - RMDs - social security - IRMA - your age now It's not an easy decision But remember, you can get to a good tax mixture without doing both all the time It's about timing taxes and using the right one in the right years

If I we’re 20 years old in 1945 there’s a chance I’d have 4 confirmed kills in the Pacific Theater. Each generation carries a burden. But man we do have it good today compared others.
middleclassparty@middle_class_us

Older generations say “we all struggled in our 20s.” No, you didn’t. You didn’t pay $2,200 for rent and $7 for eggs. You didn’t graduate into $50K student debt and $0 job security. Gen Z isn’t dramatic. They’re drowning.

Helping more advisors has always been a goal for me For nearly 4 years, I met with at least 2 advisors a week for 1 on 1s But now, it is not manageable as over 25 advisors a week ask to meet and AllStreet takes up all my time So here's what I do instead: 1. I host free office hours I have hosted 3 this year and my 4th will be this Friday Anyone can come and ask questions and learn as a group We normally see 30-50 people come each time. I try and push all advisors to this free offering as you can learn a ton from them. DM me if you want to be invited 2. I do a ton of advisor podcasts I have been on Michael Kitces, James Pollard, Matt Halloran, Matthew Jarvis, The Altruist Podcast, and many more sharing my story and everything we do (I don't hide anything we do) 3. I speak at conferences I just recently spoke at Jolt and have been to many other conferences teaching about everything we do 4. I have a social media course I have a course with @camp_wealth_old and @treytondotcom on social media marketing. It is 3 hours long and teaches you what you need to know about getting started and growing a business through social 5. 1 on 1 consulting Like I said above, I try and push everyone to the various free offerings I have. But some people want more. Real consulting on process, marketing, a financial case, etc. So I do offer this for $1,500 a session and do 1-2 a month with people who really want it. Again, if you want to come learn, DM about office hours this week!

Would you pray for our son, Teddy? He’s having surgery tomorrow morning. It’s a rather minor procedure, but feels big to us.
