@tnkgrl @Marks_Tech That can probably be explained by teampixel just trying to make their quota. Google is likely paying them to have x number of teampixel people in the program and they gotta hit those numbers to meet their contract requirements. It's a marketing program for Pixel Fans.

@nickmgray @Marks_Tech Then explain why I used to be under Google PR and they put me under Team Pixel, when I'm a legit tech journalist? In fact, I've been shuffled back and forth between Google PR and Team Pixel a couple times.

@tnkgrl @Marks_Tech But that doesn't mean the program is built for them. It's the same with the snapdragon insiders program or the old HTC Elevate. These are programs controlled with marketing dollars created for the express purpose to build fans to promote a brand.

@tnkgrl @Marks_Tech Just because tech reviewers are in it doesn't mean it's made for them. I was in teampixel when it first started and they bumped me out because I was shifted over the Google press list. I know reviewers are in there because they don't have a direct relationship with Google.

@bencsin That's a design choice to make it look like the other pixel 9 devices. It's not there because it needs to be that way.

@mweinbach Disappointing that we have to wait an extra 3 weeks for the Pro mini. That's the phone I really want.

Last night my mom passed away unexpectedly. I’m still trying to process all of this but just wanted to let those who care know that unfortunately there will not be a new episode of the @MacRumorsShow or any @MacRumors videos this week. Love you Mom ❤️

@thisistechtoday When we see that word in an email, we typically expect some form of compensation for our work, but often the brands do not have a budget or a meaningful budget to work with. They should just be offering products with no expectations, which would likely lead to more coverage.

@thisistechtoday I've had this same experience, multiple times. It's always a disappointment when you can't find mutually agreeable terms, but I've also come to realize that some brands are just approaching things the wrong way when they pitch a "collaboration" to creators.

My experience with a brand, which I used for personal, not business, purposes, opened my eyes to the importance of fair treatment and compensation for creators by brands. The pay they offered me was insignificant compared to the extensive amount of work they expected. This imbalance wouldn't have been able to cover the cost of the product I had already paid for. They also wanted me to use the products I had already paid for so they could save even more money. It's crucial for brands to understand that trying to exploit creators can backfire. My experience with this brand has led me to regret my purchase, lose interest in buying from them again, and feel compelled to warn others against purchasing their products. Instead of finding a creator who promotes and advocates for you, severely undercutting people leads to creators who advocate against you.Very short-sighted. For clarification, I spent time trying to understand their circumstances and alternatives to see how we could find a win-win. It was clear that they wanted to pay as little as possible and weren't concerned about how it came across because they would find another creator to take advantage of. How disappointing. For those working on the brand partnerships side, I understand various factors always go into a budget, many of which are reasonable and understandable. Professional and experienced creators understand this and can navigate it well to find something that works for all. If the strategy is to undercut or take advantage of them as much as possible, understand that short-term savings might lead to long-term losses and consequences. You created negative press against you. You didn't have to pay a dime for it, so you at least got a deal for something. It's not what you wanted, though. I don't think it's worth it.

@bencsin Yeah, especially since athletes have always been forbidden from taking selfies on the podium in the past.

@Snubs The general public has a hard time understanding anything the difference between text messages and iMessage. Not surprising they have no clue about this issue. Most headlines on major news sites were blaming Microsoft. If trusted media can't get it right, we're all screwed.

@saschasegan I think every US-based tech site will tell you that they write for the globe, not just the US. English is the international business language and the reach of English language sites is global.

It's weird none of the US coverage of this CMF phone is mentioning what happens when you cheap out on your modem as much as they did.

@HeyMarkL It honestly depends on a lot of factors. Personally, I like seeing numbers between 25-50k and get excited with videos that perform better than that. But there are plenty that land lower.

From a creator's POV: what number, views wise, is something you'd be happy with? For someone with 100k-1M subscriber range? I feel like after a month and your video gets ~30k views that's good, no? Obviously higher the better, but what would you be happy with?

@James_Acetate @PicturesFoIder That salary would be considered upper middle class with median income being around $75k for the household. If that's just one person's income, it should be considered upper class income
