@zmichalo39 @ShamsCharania What is your definition of parity? The league has never been more imbalanced competitively. It’s nonsense to follow a league where the biggest prize goes to the team loses the most games

@nicko_schofield @ShamsCharania League parity is personally my number one priority in any decisions made by the league. If the issue is player pay, there are ways to improve that without punishing small markets.

The NBA presented three comprehensive anti-tanking concepts to its Board of Governors on Wednesday, with modifications expected to each before a formal vote in May, per ESPN sources. 1. 18 teams in draft lottery (seeds 7-15 in each conference) – flattened odds, with bottom 10 teams having an 8% chance, the remaining 20% odds distributed in decreasing order for 11 through 18, and and a lottery drawing for all 18 picks. 2) 22 teams in lottery using 2-year record (seeds 7-15, plus the four playoff first round exits in both conferences). Lottery teams would reach a minimum win total floor in each season, such as 25 wins. If a team falls short of the floor, it gets slotted to meet the floor. Top 4 drawn as part of lottery, as is currently. 3) 18 teams in a "5 by 5" lottery – bottom 5 teams have equal odds for the top pick, with lottery formed for picks 1-5. Bottom 5 teams have a floor at 10; those that fall out of top 5 get sorted in a separate drawing.

@WesGolfer23 @ShamsCharania Don’t they have the same amount of salary cap to offer as all other teams? This would remove their incentive to lose games and therefore retain players

@nicko_schofield @ShamsCharania Terrible to get rid of draft teams like Utah and Washington would never get any good players. Just make The League a 10 team league at that point

@nicko_schofield @JUnodos999 @ShamsCharania They have no cap space lmfao. And would have to gut their whole team to get him. Even if they trut and plan ahead they will just get out flanked by big markets planning the same thing who can afford the tax.

@nicko_schofield @PascalSockem @ShamsCharania And why would GSW or LA just offer him the max? Trade away you old players you no longer need for a 2nd round pick that can help a small market team and then start a new era?

@nicko_schofield @PascalSockem @ShamsCharania (Besides bron in Cleveland) Notice how it’s all big market teams but only recently did small market teams start achieving success. Aprons introduced in 2023 will allow the parity. 2011 introduced luxury tax but big markets jusy ate the tax bill. This idea will just go back

@nicko_schofield @PascalSockem @ShamsCharania Milwaukee drafted giannis a raw prospect mid-late lottery that ended up being a freak of nature, biggest free agent signing was brook Lopez but to get Jrue and surround him with talent they went all in and traded all their assets

@JUnodos999 @PascalSockem @ShamsCharania There is no reason Denver couldn’t have signed Jokic and MJP in the free market at the discounts they got them. Teams weren’t queueing up to pay Jokic. Everyone has the same salary cap.

@nicko_schofield @PascalSockem @ShamsCharania Small market teams that won recently OKC built their team off Clippers going all in on the dumbest trade all time and giving them SGA and 5 first round picks Denver, drafted Jokic in 2nd rnd 55th, got MPJ in lottery who dropped due to having back surgery as projected #1 pick

Are you watching march madness this week? There is a massive difference in diversity of the type of player, background and the way they play and it’s the most beautiful thing about it. If the Utah lifestyle leads to attracting players who can create a team culture that can compete then that will attract other players who want to be part of that culture .

@SamGaryl5hn @nicko_schofield @ShamsCharania Nothing wrong with the beauty of Utah, but a bunch of 18 year olds who are millionaires and jusy coming out of high school and college, most places shut down on Sundays too and nba players already have to travel all season long

@nicko_schofield @JUnodos999 @ShamsCharania Smaller markets would never have a chance. Teams are looking at players when they are in high schools and get ideas of who they want. You're never going to run into a situation where a top market doesnt have enough to pay, because they will have planned years in advance to aquire
