Not a fan of having the entire internet centralized by mega corporations. What made the internet amazing was the original decentralization and ability for anyone to build their own platform. We’re down to four major entities. Reddit, X, Meta, Google. If you do not prosper in one of these four locations, you will not make an existence for yourself online. Competing with them directly is also a non-starter, because the users refuse to migrate, even with a better user experience. We don’t need an “everything app” that controls all internet traffic. We need a free and open internet that allows the people to own the signal themselves. The original blogosphere enabled anyone, anywhere, any time the freedom to build their own platform and following free from corporate and government oversight. Today that is dead. Internet viewership is channeled into one of four main locations, and the flavor of the decade is short-format brain junk food that does nothing but destroy the average human’s ability to think critically.
