It's really sobering to get closer to net zero policy. It's so clear we're not being *remotely* radical enough. e.g. 30,000 annual heat pump installations when the govt wants 600,000. We're nowhere near. The problem isn't just the policies, it's the methods we're using. 🧵

Got it in one. My constant gripe with a lot of the policy space, although their hearts are in the right place, is that 95% don't understand the scale of change we need.

Policy is important—and in some cases can be transformative. But only insofar as it alters the underlying structural conditions of our political economy. Policy within the existing structures can tweak or adjust, but it rarely transforms.
