@danielholkss JUDAS WAS NOT CONDEMNED. He was ordained to play a very difficult role. Like the criminal at the side he could have asked for forgiveness at the cross. Instead he wallowed, drowned and hung himself in his shame and guilt. Nothing is hopeless unless we abandon hope.

Genuine question for theologians, critical thinkers, and anyone who has wrestled with this. Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus for thirty pieces of silver. He is history's most infamous traitor. But his betrayal was preordained. Without it there is no arrest, no crucifixion, no resurrection. Without Judas the entire salvation story does not happen. So the question is not just whether he goes to hell. The question is whether a man can be condemned for fulfilling a role God already wrote for him. If the answer is yes, what does that say about free will. If the answer is no, what does that say about justice. There is no comfortable exit from this question. That is why it is worth asking.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ Love is holding a person's heart in your care. You value your loved one's feelings more than the preferrable results you* pursue. And the expression of love and care is often through touch. You confuse deference for love - that evokes pity from those of us who don't.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ I lived in Japan for years and heard, witnessed terrible, inescapable parent/grown child relationships, MIL to daughters esp, and the family unit always prevails - the individual suffers. Respect and responsibility, yes. Love? Not so much. I met my DH in Canada, where we live.

@meichano_O @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ You're too far gone to understand. You insist only your perspective is the right way. I'm telling you that there are different ways, but no, other ways are not right... Western love good, Asian love bad. I shake the dust off my feet.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ In terms of 'reducing things,' that is what cultural comparisons do. In the west, if your kid spent months in their room, no contact with friends, family would act out of concern for mental health. But some expressions of love, you argue, include leaving them to deteriorate.

@meichano_O @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ Does that negative aspect apply to Japanese and Asian families in general? You're projecting too much of your personal issues onto a very large and diverse people and societies that do not rely on verbal and outward manifestations that Westerners are accustomed to.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ Sure, why not look at suicide and the prevalence of shut in culture in Japan, then? Why does one culture hide its 'failures' (ahem, that's children) where another strives to integrate them? What do these decisions say about love? I think I understand that shame outshines love.

@meichano_O @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ Emotions change. Love is an act of the will. It is a decision, not a feeling. Your inability to understand how other people and cultures show love & affection is your problem. You insist your way is the only right way, and I'm the one reducing things. Sure.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ Love is an emotion bc you can do actions of care w/o feeling. I have an Asian family member who says love is in a cup of rice. ie. The food provided for you - that* is love. But cultural subjectivity be damned. You reduce love to actions, and you could marry a robot.

@nightvision110 @unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ oh puhleeze. I'm married to a Japanese man and this is such tripe. They are very affectionate with kids until about 6, then it stops. Done. No more hugs. Then at 12 you are responsible for the weight of the world, so you won't miss the hugs.

Congolese children stuffed in bags are up for sale as “child labour” to the highest bidder. An estimated 40,000 children work in the cobalt mines of the DRC. Where is the outrage from Black Lives Matter and other organisations?

@unboostable @heylonglivex @YFIHQ We Asians do not need words to know if our parents love us and vice versa. It's cultural. Some cultures are not verbal, some are. There is nothing pathetic in that; it's just a matter of different perspectives and ways of life. Understanding is a dying art these days.

It is atrocious that the government is more concerned about losing revenues than helping the very citizenry they are supposed to serve. That message simply says "kami mawawalan." So dapat talaga, kami mahirapan para sa inyo? Mga inutil. Oo. Sinabi ko.

SUPREME COURT OR SARA’S COURT? JUSTICE AT WARP SPEED FOR THE ELITE WHILE THE NATION LANGUISHES IN THE SLOW LANE! The Supreme Court’s decision to issue a 10-day notice to the House of Representatives regarding Sara’s petitions is a masterclass in judicial efficiency, a brand of efficiency, however, that the "common man" in the Philippines has never been invited to witness. While thousands of ordinary litigants spend decades navigating a labyrinthine legal system, watching their lives crumble under the weight of "clogged dockets" and procedural delays, the Court has demonstrated that for the powerful, justice doesn't just move; it sprints. The Two-Track Justice System For the Elite: A specialized, high-speed rail. When the Vice President or her legal proxies cry "procedural foul" over an impeachment process, the Court reacts with a sense of urgency that borders on the frantic. For the Masses: A broken tricycle on a flooded street. The average Filipino citizen, wrongfully accused, seeking land titles, or fighting for labor rights, is met with the standard "due process" that often outlives the litigants themselves. "Sara’s Court": The Erosion of Public Trust Former Senator Leila de Lima’s biting observation, that SC now stands for "Sara’s Court", resonates because it highlights a perceived shift in the judiciary’s role. The Court is increasingly seen not as a blind arbiter of the law, but as a responsive concierge for political figures. When the judiciary intervenes this aggressively in the constitutional processes of a co-equal branch like the House of Representatives, it risks appearing less like a "check and balance" and more like a defensive shield for a specific political dynasty. A Bitter Pill for the Taxpayer It is a profound insult to the taxpayer to see the highest court in the land move heaven and earth within days for a political maneuver, while the "clogged courts" excuse is used to justify the glacial pace of justice for everyone else. If the Supreme Court can demand a reply in 10 days for a political petition, there is no longer any excuse for why a simple criminal appeal or a civil suit should take 10 years. By prioritizing the grievances of the powerful, the Court hasn't just issued a notice; it has issued a reminder that in the eyes of the law, some are significantly more equal than others. @SCPh_PIO

People are acting like he beat her up. It was probably nerves or she said something disrespectful right before. The bride should’ve stayed and talked it out like adults. Maybe it wasn’t a hard slap, just a reaction in the heat of the moment. Weddings are stressful! The mother overreacted and ruined the whole day for everyone. Would you destroy your daughter’s wedding over one emotional moment?
