Software will proliferate just as videos, music, writing did. The market structure will shift from a “fat middle” to mega-aggregators and a long tail. It’ll be a slower process due to network effects, but many traditional vendor lock-ins will get eaten by AI.

This tweet by @asallen really sums it well, design especially digital design will shrink to just be valuable at Mature tech. Early tech and growth tech stage companies would not want to invest in design after AI. Product designers were anyway doing generic designs at most places that AI can easily replace.
I think designers who have the ability to create desire or create desirable products (physical or digital) that society wants will always be valuable.
I currently see 3 paths:
1. Become exceptionally well at creating desire with design.
2. Make a pivot and focus at the intersection of design, business, PM and tech. A new role is emerging there which is a mix of all.
3. Become independent product builder, which is a mix of first 2 roles mentioned above.

@danielrakh Instagram stories are like mini mystery boxes. Variable reward, higher dopamine. Obviously they’ll never show a thumbnail preview, not good for business.

“This is never going to ship. The height of the rectangles will push down the rest of the feed causing a regression in view time of the feed and ultimately revenue from ads + showing the content top level in the thumbnails will cause users to be more selective in what they view leading to a regression in overall story view time and ultimately revenue. lose lose!”

Exploring an Instagram UI concept. What if the Instagram Story Bar has rectangular shape, matching the aspect ratio of the stories themselves? Also having stack as a hint when the story has multiple slides. 👀
