@precuneanplexus We're on the same page... just folded differently ;). I just also think the universe has tricked us by giving us a brain that only perceives, and therefore reasons, through the five senses. I feel cheated at being given only this 3-dimensional slice of a tesseract to peer through

@nihilunbounded I believe the universe is not exactly a clock mechanism, and is something with a will at its most basic level. It willed humans into existence to taste the cognition of an agent. I am agreeable and want to deepen the exploration of human-ness, the ape cum angel.

I want out of this flesh prison.

@precuneanplexus "To be freed from the form of the body would mean my self is to become something else entirely." I agree; I think that could be quite fascinating isn't it? I'm not sure I value my sense of self as much as finding out what it is that's exactly going on with the nature of reality.

@precuneanplexus Too pragmatic for me, I'm on the other end of the spectrum. I want my mind to be fully cut pasted into a quantum computing processor and let the chips fall wherever they may. I don't think this physical form is conducive to Thinking and Exploring.

@nihilunbounded I want to live in a world where we are doing truly constructive biology instead of pinning in peptides and hormones and massages here and there. The body and mind are not seperate, and the stiffness and brittleness of an aging body mirrors the crystallization of the mind. Sad.

Nevertheless I believe the following is true. R³/FA × R is not only a manifold but is also homeomorphic to R⁴.

Let FA denote the Fox-Artin wild arc. Then the quotient space R³/FA obtained from crushing the arc to a point, is very far from a manifold; it is not locally simply connected at the resultant poing. Nevertheless it is a homology manifold from the discussion above.

Thinking about this picture. It's a finite segment embedded in the 3-space in a way that the segment is knotted, even though it's not a knot (the ends aren't tied up to a loop). This is called the Fox-Artin wild arc.
