Trump has landed in China for the 2nd time in 10 months. Xi Jinping has not traveled to the U.S. China is the real superpower.

Eight years ago today, Malaysians queued up at schools just like these. Most of us didn’t actually think it would happen. We hoped. We showed up. But deep down, many of us weren’t sure a single vote could change 61 years of the same government. And then it did. We did it. Six years on, it’s hard to know how to feel about all of it. A government that fell in 22 months. Three prime ministers without a single election. Another vote that gave us a unity government that, honestly, still doesn’t feel like what people queued up for back in 2018. Reforms that were promised are either half-done or quietly forgotten. The feeling of “different faces, but a lot of the same feelings”. I’ve had this conversation so many times now, with friends, with family, and I keep hearing the same thing. “I’ve given up. The government disappoints me. The opposition isn’t any better.” I don’t think that’s apathy. I think that’s what exhaustion sounds like after years of hoping. But here’s the thing about political cycles. They end. And when they do, people who said they’ve given up somehow find themselves back at the polling station. Pen in hand, doing the one thing that actually changed something once before. We’re getting close to that moment again. And if 2018 taught us anything, it’s that we’re more capable of surprising ourselves than we think.

That’s why I said YB Rafizi Ramli is rare , a leader who never ceases to amaze me. Even while facing investigations and political attacks, he still stands firm talking about the well-being of the nation and its citizens. No empty slogans. No fantasy promises. Everything he says is grounded in what he believes can actually be achieved. At this point, I honestly wouldn’t even mind changing my voting constituency to Pandan. Leaders with integrity are rare. Leaders with courage are rare. Leaders with moral conscience are rare. But a leader who carries all three while still willing to fight the system head-on? That’s once in a generation. We cannot allow this kind of leader to be destroyed by political persecution while corrupt and recycled political elites continue surviving from one coalition to another. I refuse to accept another 20 years of corruption culture and power recycling through BN, PN, and even PH , where only the logos change but the old political mentality remains the same. Malaysia does not need another politician who knows how to survive. Malaysia needs leaders who are willing to fight for the rakyat even when the system turns against them.
