Harrison Ford has done press interviews for 50 years and almost never looks like he’s enjoying himself. Then a British TV host who hadn’t even seen his film made him laugh harder than anyone ever has on camera. In 2017, Ford and Ryan Gosling sat down on ITV’s This Morning to promote Blade Runner 2049. Interviewer Alison Hammond opened with a straight face: “Bleak. Dystopian. An absolute nightmare to be honest with you.” Both actors braced. Then she added, “that’s just my interviewing techniques.” Ford cracked. Gosling broke completely. Within a minute, Gosling had opened a miniature bottle of whisky and poured himself a glass. Hammond then admitted she’d never seen the original Blade Runner. She asked Gosling if he’d brought his knitting needles to set. He looked down at his sweater and said, “Yeah, this is what I did on set. I knitted this.” Ford tried to give a serious answer about the film. Hammond poured herself a drink. Ford grabbed Gosling’s glass and took a sip. The whole thing lasted four minutes. Almost none of it was about the film. Hammond left thinking she was going to be sacked. The clip passed 19 million views on YouTube. Ford walked up to her afterward and said she’d made his day. When they did a follow-up Zoom days later, he didn’t recognise her. He later requested her by name for his next press tour.

@GGStyles13 @ontourhs_ They definitely should’ve advertised resale was not going to be an option or wouldn’t be available for months. I wouldn’t mind but I’ve never mis-sold a ticket. Decent people are being penalised for those that rip off others.

I don’t understand why people are not able to resell the tickets they no longer need for Harry’s and other artists tours on ticketmaster, I’ve had hundreds of people ask me to post their tickets and I feel bad saying no, but I feel like I have to scope out their insta and judge for scammers to protect my followers and I’m so scared of the tickets not working after. So I just say no. some people genuinely can’t go or wanna sell so why can’t they be resold on Ticketmaster for face value? It’s kinda just encouraging more scams cause people are definitely still buying the tickets off people hoping and trusting they will transfer them over 3 days before a show. It’s putting people more at risk from scams tbf.

@ontourhs_ They can be sold directly back to Ticketmaster. I’ve done it and the. They got sold right away at face value. Anyone saying they won’t are scammers

@JohnBaldLangLit It’s worth remembering exam marking whilst still teaching affects your tax code. Hours spent marking after work for most to be taken at a higher tax rate & then a possible tax code change. HMRC don’t seem to understand seasonal exam marking only lasts for 3-4 weeks not a year!

From Sandos Bowker, on Linked-in What can you buy for 99p? Not much. Not even a 99 ice cream. Yet 99p is what an exam board pays to mark a GCSE essay worth 40 marks. Today, I was offered a contract to mark over 600 of these essays in just under three weeks. That is 600 pieces of work written by young people whose grades will follow them into sixth form, apprenticeships, university, employment. Work that represents years of teaching, revision, pressure and hope. Priced at 99p each to assess. In 2024, the same exam board reported £600 million in profit. Exam entry fees are often the second largest cost to schools after salaries. I am no longer a classroom teacher. That made it a little easier to make the decision to say no. Not this year. Many teachers do not have that luxury. For many, including those on parental leave, exam marking is one of the only viable ways to top up their income. It is often the only professional side work that fits around teaching. For some families, it is what makes a summer holiday possible. So they say yes. Yes to three weeks of late nights after full school days. Yes to weekends lost to standardisation and scripts. Yes to barely seeing their own children. Yes to being even more stretched than they already are. All so that the professional judgement required to safeguard a young person’s qualification is valued at less than a pound. This is not just about pay. It is about what we are prepared to normalise. What does 99p say about how we value expertise? What does it say about how we value teachers’ time? What does it say about how we value the work of our students? I rejected the contract. But the bigger issue remains. Why is this judged acceptable?
