@twelvethrees @ratthapolviolin @mjshrimper @KieranMaguire Robin van Persie being sent off for kicking the ball away when he didn't hear the whistle at the Nou Camp. Nani sent off v Madrid. Barca v Chelsea. Porto with some dubious decisions on their CL run. Lampard v Germany. Roy Carroll v Spurs... Just off top of my head.

I admit it - I thought VAR would make a positive difference. I was wrong. I think we should scrap it. Not tweak it. Just scrap it. Looks like a lot of you agree. nytimes.com/athletic/71560…

VAR as a technology isn't the issue; the human implementation is. People forget the absolute robbery and frustration from the pre-VAR days—it was WAY worse. We just love to complain about the present because nostalgia clouds our memory. It's like throwing away your laptop and going back to a typewriter just because your software crashed once. You don't scrap the tool; you fix the bug.

@MufcWonItAll2 @Ed_Miliband Ok but this has nothing to do with pollution. It's just about not relying on other countries for fuel. If we can make the power needed in the UK, then that's less reliance on oil and gulf countries. What's China got to do with this?

Conflict in the Middle East has once again shown that clean power is essential for energy security. That’s why we’re speeding up action, with solar panels to be fitted as standard on new homes and plug-in solar to be made available in shops within months. lbc.co.uk/article/miliba…

@bscholl Why didn't the fire truck drivers check before crossing a runway? Were they not trained? We as pilots do this every time, even after being cleared. Secondly, why don't you have stop bars in the US? This would prevent accidents and it's so easy to implement.

@mazen_barbir Agreed, kids have gone back to Europe as we can put them in school there temporarily.

As a long-time resident of Dubai, I want my kids physically in school - because I feel safe for them to be there. The stickiness of expats here is highly dependent on schooling. It’s not just education, it’s routine, stability, development. Move to remote schooling for an extended period, and you don’t just disrupt learning - you start shifting behavior. Schooling, remotely, is a key decision with long term implications. Parents in the UAE: Agree/Disagree? What do you opt for, if the decision is yours?

@R_o_M @dre_parmour Eh, I don't believe that. You can't walk off the pitch unless it's something valid like for racism or abuse. They should be stripped of their victory imo. But let's see what happens in the appeal! Maybe Morocco playing on will invalidate their claim.

@nikradmore @dre_parmour The only thing disgraceful about that game was the pure corruption that saw match deciding decisions incorrectly go to the home nation. Senegal somehow managed to overcome that and deservedly win.

Poor Senegal. We thought VAR chalking off goals was bad. Imagine having a fucking trophy taken off you, two months later. Wild.

@dre_parmour @R_o_M I am aware ;) But they clearly broke the rules, what they did was absolutely disgraceful. Morocco should not have agreed to play on after that for sure. Maybe as you say, them doing so invalidates their claim. Let's see the appeal.

@nikradmore @R_o_M That’s literally the opposite of what I’m saying. Once the re-entered the pitch the game was legitimate again even if delays and unfair. Morocco willingly played on. You can’t retrospectively forfeit a team who came back onto the pitch.

@R_o_M This is some serious bullshit and I can't wait to see the fallout. Expect boycotts and closing of ranks from Western, Eastern and Southern African countries.

@dre_parmour @R_o_M Exactly, once they left the field of play, the game was over and Morocco won. Simple as. Glad it was finally sorted, but you'll never take the winning feeling away from Senegal, and Morocco won't feel the same winning it like this!

@R_o_M I just don’t understand how they think this is gonna play out. Once they re-entered the field the match was concluded. However you feel about it the finished the match and we all saw Senegal win it. It’s mental 😂

@AdamJoseph Leo Messi did it in 319 appearances starting from his professional debut for Barcelona. Bruno did it through the peak of his career at Manchester United. Not the same thing.

Bruno Fernandes officially becomes the third player in Manchester United history with 100+ goals & 100+ assists in all competitions (105 & 100). He did it in 318 appearances. For context; Leo Messi did it in 319 for Barcelona, Cristiano Ronaldo did it in 325 for Real Madrid.

Late to the Louis Theroux manosphere doc but I have some thoughts; first: yes, it's a deserved slow-roasting of some horrible, & frighteningly influential, people. The young male fans that these guys attract in public proves their appeal and the threat that that implies. But...

@reaptides Shrinking is so good, but why is the title sequence so weird?? It literally is about nothing and just looks like AI slop, it's so creepy! (I'm sure it's not actually AI though but it's really horrible)

gaby's arc in #shrinking this season has to be the most devastating one yet. we're finally seeing the real cost of jimmy's unorthodox methods. and gaby, who has always pushed back on this, who only tried "jimmying" maya because she cared so much... now has to deal with losing her

@MikeMedFly Respectfully disagree, it would be absolutely game over for EK if an aircraft was blown out of the sky. I really doubt they would ever risk that. Anyway, agree to disagree I guess...

@nikradmore It’s very tongue in cheek but I think you’re missing the point of the initial post, operations were not safe to resume simply because of what happened immediately after and since then. Safety was impacted and there’s zero doubt about that

Did Emirates suspend all operations for 25 minutes? Wouldn’t be going near them until they make a decision and stick with it for safety reasons.
