@CDriscoll99 The middle classes are full of people who are the fourth of fifth child of someone notable who dropped down the ladder and kept the perks, culture, and expectations. Again, your lack of knowledge is as crass and empty as your performative ash on your forehead for social media.

@nileinnit I’m not taking any lessons on what the middle class do or how they act, from someone with ‘innit’ as their username. I’m well aware of what goes on in the middle class. No one in the middle class is old money either btw.

This performative poverty olympics in the UK is so tiresome. A race to the bottom. They do live in the real world. Their real world, where they are multi millionaires who can spend as much money they’ve made on whatever they choose. These types of accounts are becoming embarrassing too btw.

@CDriscoll99 The fact you said a horse a child rides that gets them into the right clubs, the right events, the right circles, is 'spoiling kids' only compounds what I said. Old money Britons do not piss money up the wall like this. Beckhams are trashy new money and get looked down for it.

@nileinnit It’s the complete opposite actually. It’s a plain bag and you only know it’s worth because someone said it. It’s nothing like chav culture mass produced ‘designer.’ Also plenty of middle class thrive on spoiling kids. Horses? You’re way off.

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 Yes. They did that. That is what the Arab Spring was. They got rid of Army rule. They held an election. They had the basis for a new start and this got stomped out by the army we have on record getting support from the US. We are talking in circles.

@nileinnit @crawlings13 I was referring to the State, not some random dude around the corner. If the military elite is corrupt and useless then people have to rise up and overthrow them or demand reforms. Btw dictatorships can never survive without the support of a considerable number of people.

Egypt is a failed autocracy of 115 million people gifted with unfathomable cultural resources which squandered its role as regional crown jewel to relyp on an Israel-aligned West for basic financial subsistence. If I was Egyptian I would not be able to breathe between tragic sobs

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 I'm speaking about the independence of citizens to act. You said average Egyptians just need to lock in and make the country better. The single most simplistic analysis imaginable. You can be as straight as an arrow, the country is still captured by a corrupt military complex

@nileinnit @crawlings13 There is no such thing as “independence” in geo politics, everyone is within someone’s sphere of influence. There is also no reason to assume that democracy would solve Egypt’s problems, there are plenty of examples of failed and corrupt democracies around the world.

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 I'm not talking about 'democracy and human rights' I'm talking about the ability in a state to act independently, for the public good, innovatively, in a non corrupt way, when the corrupting factor is an army that takes power, siphons off untold billions, disappears civilians.

@nileinnit @crawlings13 You’re talking about democracy and human rights, I’m talking about systemic and structural issues. The army intervened because it didn’t want to lose power, not because it was ordered to do so by the US. And I have zero faith btw that the Muslim Brotherhood would be any better.

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 The country is run by the army because when the Egyptian people did take matters into their own hands, the US said no none of that, you have a specific role, and deposed their choice. It is this fatalism which breeds corruption et al. Speak out and you're jailed or disappeared.

@nileinnit @crawlings13 It’s over simplistic attributing everything to outside factors, yes. After you’ve start talking about the tribalism, sectarianism, cronyism, nepotism, corruption etc that characterises the region we can analyse the role of outsiders as well.

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 'its over simplistic to point out very real economic and political realities which we saw play out in the Arab Spring last decade. @nileinnit @crawlings13 That’s over simplistic, it’s up to Egyptians to improve the institutions of their country instead of blaming everything on outsiders. That’s a recurrent theme that I keep seeing across the Muslim world, everything is about the US and Israel.

@AlexiosKomnin0s @crawlings13 The crucial part of being a client state is that you lack strong institutions as your master ultimately picks the leader and everything is thus subordinate to a foreign whim, state chaos is downstream from that, and you have a captive economy.

@crawlings13 Egypt needs strong institutions, a functioning State and a growing economy. Focus on these and leave aside regional dominion and Israel. We all know the results of Nasserism, populism and regional adventurism. Egypt needs peace and growth, not to turn into Iran no.2.

@Maronidd 'if the country that has spent 80 years trying to establish a Christian client state in Lebanon and openly used Christian militias as their henchmen in the past was really megamind, they'd scourge Christian villages'. You are a waste of space with nothing worthwhile to listen to.

The reason Hezbollah and their friends in the west completely ignore Christian villages in southern Lebanon is because they disprove their whole narrative in the most straightforward way possible None of these villages have hosted terrorists, they are populated by peaceful Christian inhabitants As a result, they are still standing and their inhabitants remain there today (albeit most took refuge in Rmeich proper) If Israel was really the megamind satanic entity wanting to eat territory they would have destroyed and occupied these villages, but they obviously didn't Again, the only reason Israel is in Lebanon today is Hezbollah's stupidity And before someone hits me with "But in 1982 Hezbollah didn't exist" shut up retard there was the PLO who was even more stupid and attacked Israel on a regular basis

This is why the Balkans will never get in because the EU still sees them as savages “Oh no The Balkans aren't listening to us anymore and the situation is exploding” No shit. You have been making promises about accession for over 20 years yet expect Balkans to kiss your asses.
(• ˕ •マ.ᐟ ★@Y40IFRQTTING

People don't remember how insane Turkey's EU accession process was. It fulfilled every tedious requirement and got publicly humiliated, as the EU ultimately operated based on mythologized racial grievances. Early 2000s Turkey was a very unproblematic and mundane Western ally.

The British and French made it obvious that their expectation was for Germany and the USSR to fight to exhaustion and then be mopped up. The reaction to telegraphing this was the Molotov-Ribbentrop 'they want us to kill eachother' pact. It was clumsy, arrogant, and forlorn.
The Old World Show@theoldworldshow

Chamberlin was actually engineering situation, reasonably well in which the Nazis and Bolsheviks would fight and exhaust themselves, at no real cost to British taxpayers or the empire, and while allowing it to rearm and raise defenses against Japanese aggression, as Carrol Quigley shows well What the UK certainly does not need is entering another half-cocked war that will cost it what little it has left
