PSA: My favorite player has always been Brandon Nimmo. Tonight he has been reborn as AJ Ewing. I still support Baty, but twitter only lets us have one user name. #LGM

the Semien trade is going to go down as one of the worst trades in Mets history he has absolutely nothing left at the plate

@nimmonation9 @draftniks Yeah they skipped out on franchise players and made the playoffs every year. And made smart decisions the entire time. Name the Brandon Nimmo on the current Dodgers roster. The closest thing is Kyle Tucker except he’s 3 years younger and on a 4 year deal.

lol that's fair, but Semien is only here for 3 years and we have several other infield options that will be lining up for 2029. Instead of having Nimmo clogging up our roster who would be 3 years worse than he already is right now, Semien will open the gates for Voit or Peña.

@nimmonation9 @draftniks THE DODGERS????? The team that let go of Cody Bellinger, Corey Seager, Trea Turner, and Manny Machado because they didn’t want to pay them, that’s the team you say doesn’t plan for the future? Are you guys actually this retarded in real life or do you just pretend to be online?

@bu99s @draftniks Baseball isn’t played 4 years into the future. It’s played today on the field. You tomorrow freaks always keep talking as if everything will go according to plan in 2030 meanwhile we can’t make the playoffs today in an expanded format. Or do you think LAD is playing for 2030

@nimmonation9 @draftniks He offered him 2 years at age 32 and you’re comparing that to accepting FIVE YEARS at the same age. You captain hindsight types always show up 1 month into a contract but are always dead silent 4 years into a contract avoided.

@nimmonation9 @draftniks I think they fucked up making Polanco a 1B, which contributed to his injury, but comparing signing a 32 year old Jorge Polanco off an .821 OPS last year to signing on for a 35 year old Nimmo off a .760 OPS 3 years prior is laughable.

@ShaunWasRight @draftniks I don’t need to believe a thing. It’s what was said. If Stearns is lying publicly then yes that is something to talk about PROPERLY. i’d assess your intelligence but between the use of property, a stolen wardy graphic and spelling Shaun incorrectly, it’s not worth it. 🤡

@nimmonation9 @draftniks And if you believe a public statement and think other things weren’t said behind closed doors we really should talk about that property It’s why he had forced off days when he wasn’t even allowed to PH

Yes - and unless you think they were going to take a journey man late in the season he was one of the realistic guys
The Draftnik@draftniks

@ShaunWasRight You know only one or two players debut per team now in September right?

@draftniks To put that into perspective, when Semien is no longer a New York Met, Brandon Nimmo will still have almost as many years remaining.

@draftniks Right which all you’re doing is proving me right on both points Ewing debuting in 2026 when he likely would’ve anyway is not some sort of panic move - Robert is on a one year deal and was a “safe move” but they also knew he’d get hurt

Also you can’t give credit to Stearns when players are successful and then give him no blame when the vast major of his player acquisitions have been utter failures. Go to last year’s trade deadline. He doesn’t get blame for bad performance? Or his bad offseason acquisitions too?
Travis Henderson@travishend4577

@MetsMoods @draftniks @SteveGelbs @nymetsfan5729 Streans should get credit for them being successful when they are up, as they have mostly this year.

@ctbazejr28 @draftniks the problem is he isn’t even 50/50. stearns in his tenure has missed WAY more than he’s hit and always says he is confident in his process. didn’t anticipate robert and polanco getting hurt? that’s arrogance not “bad luck”

@draftniks Stearns is responsible for it all. Some good, some bad. Can't stay 50/50, we need that hit rate at 70%. This trade deadline will be telling.

@draftniks The one thing we DO know is he flew to japan to scout murakami and said polanco was worth more money over the same length.

If you think he knows every player in the draft and makes drafting decisions, you don’t know how baseball works. Kris Gross and his amateur scouting team make those decisions. Stearns does not fly in to see high school and college players. This is not NBA or NFL where GMs do that
Travis Henderson@travishend4577

@draftniks He drafted Carson Benge, is in charge of farm system and whatnot, he gets credit for that if it works out, while also getting criticism for terrible free agency/trades for the most part.

I love that Steve Gelbs is getting absolutely flamed for this ridiculous giving of credit to David Stearns. #Mets fans aren’t stupid and won’t believe corporate spin like this. 99% of the comments are hitting back. What an asinine take. The team is succeeding in spite of Stearns!
Steve Gelbs@SteveGelbs

David Stearns’ ideal roster is one built on athleticism: speed, defense, versatility and some big bats mixed in. The promotion of Nick Morabito furthers that vision. Like AJ Ewing, the kid can absolutely fly: 59 SB in 2024, 49 last year and 14 already this season. Youth movement in Queens.
