The Best Scientists 🧵 I have heard a lot about the Best Scientists 🧑‍🔬 Maybe the best scientists... make impactful discoveries, publish in gilded journals, garner millions in funding, with lots of indirects. And prizes, all the prizes🏆 And everybody respects them. OR…

Super excited that a story I co-led during the end of my time @uclachem is finally out today in @JVirology! Tl;dr: when delivering self-amplifying RNAs to cells, you need way less than what's considered standard RNA dosing. journals.asm.org/doi/full/10.11…

Great article about technological advances for studying 3D genome organization @Nature. A pleasure to host @amberldance in our lab and talk with her for this piece. Particularly enjoyed the lede featuring SHARP-Y (created by @jimmykguo @oliviaettlin )!

Methods that meld imaging with sequencing are uncovering the organizational principles of the genome and how it influences cell fates. Read the @Nature report. go.nature.com/3przDpd

It’s official - starting this fall, I will be pursuing my PhD at @PiN_Harvard! I’m thankful for my mentors for training, guiding and encouraging me to pursue science in places that are often inaccessible to people like me - women, int’l students and those not born into privilege.

Story of a 66-year-old researcher, an immigrant, who rarely got grants, never got her own lab, never earned more than $60K. For four decades, she kept working on mRNA—a path considered foolish. Her work is the basis for the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. nytimes.com/2021/04/08/hea…

@CaitVCarlos I’m also very nostalgic for this class and the wonderful people that I knew throughout my freshmen year (including our wonderful @CaitVCarlos and her son when he was 6 weeks old). Throughout my college career I’ll always be reflective nostalgic for the happiness of this class.

@CaitVCarlos @zhearn6 @Mayramiranda50_ I think Cars for all the sequels the ending scenes usually revolve around them blowing off dust through the mountainous driveway so the whole series is definitely romanticizing he American West

The reading made me consider what I identify with the American West and I noticed my perception is influenced from seeing the movie "Bandidas" as a child, which depicts typical stereotypes. In view of today, I dont identify the West as a Garden of Eden. How about you?#UCLA60FOT

@BaudeliaVallejo I feel like fashion and makeup has been the basis of nostalgia for a long time. I remembered when I was obsessed with Friends, I tried to fine clothes and dresses that loook like Rachel Green just so I can be nostalgic for the 90s #ucla60FOT

@AnaSchueler2 Games that you used to play as a kid is a strong trigger for nostalgia because those are actual actions that you conducted and these actual experience might stuck in your minds for much longer time.

“Bask in the nostalgia.” For many people Pokémon is a nostalgia trip from their childhood. He is using nostalgia to explain his obsession with the theme song. Interesting how nostalgia can be so universal even through personal memories #UCLA60FOT

@QuynhVo41672767 I have a Harry Potter mug which turns to a different glow after I pour hot drinks in. The magic of the mug reminded me and make me nostalgic of all the time during my childhood when I tried to escape reality by entering the reality of magic.

Saw the trailer recently in a movie theatre. Brings back nostalgic feeling but wasnt impressed. The perception of nostalgia of HP is too high of a standard for FB the series to reach (maybe it will never be reach). Does anyone feel the same? #UCLA60FOT

@QuynhVo41672767 Vietnamese country does bring back nostalgia for me as well. The peaceful rice plantations and the quiet life is appealing. I guess for me the point of nolstagia is like an escape, if I want to get away from the hassel bustle of the city, I think about Vietnamese countryside.

When I was reading the Historical Nostalgia reading, I didn’t have a visual image of the England country side. All I can think about is my experience in the country side of Vietnam and the vast field of rice plantation that looks like the ocean when the wind blew. #UCLA60FOT
