I’m writing my final paper on nostalgia found in The Rock Horror Picture Show and during my research I came across this interesting article about Retrofuturism. It doesn’t specifically talk about nostalgia, but they definitely go hand in hand! online.liverpooluniversitypress.co.uk/doi/pdf/10.382…

@alex11bell It’s funny that people crave the “old school” look of pictures, but only if it is convenient. Most people would rather use this app than a real disposable camera. Once people get nostalgic for something, a more convenient version always seems to follow! #UCLA60FOT

@Mayramiranda50_ I agree, I don’t really picture a Garden of Eden either. My influence of the American West as a kid was similar to yours, Home on the Range! I always associate the American West with ranchers, cowboys, and lots of cows! I always forget about this nostalgic classic. #ucla60FOT

The reading made me consider what I identify with the American West and I noticed my perception is influenced from seeing the movie "Bandidas" as a child, which depicts typical stereotypes. In view of today, I dont identify the West as a Garden of Eden. How about you?#UCLA60FOT

@alex11bell My dad is the only adult I can talk to about current music! I definitely think this is a thing, my grandma has been listening to the Beatles on repeat for 40 years lol

I drove past Mel’s last week and thought I went perfect with the nostalgia of the 50’s that everyone clings so tightly to. I wonder why exactly Mel’s continues to stay so popular, and why people even today never seem to get enough of the 50’s fix. #UCLA60FOT

@Mayramiranda50_ We have one of these diners in my home town and it’s funny because the only people who go are either senior citizens or the “hip” kids. I guess it just goes to show how trends always end up resurfacing eventually.

My friend visited Santa Monica recently and told me about a 50s themed diner she came across. I looked it up and thought it related perfectly with this week's theme of retromania. Their website and employee's uniform captures "Cafe 50s". #UCLA60FOT cafe50s.com

I saw this when I was in target with my dad (a huge star wars nerd) and he said he liked it because it made him “think of his childhood”. Talk about using nostalgia as a marketing tool!!!

I was browsing Xfinity for a movie the other night and “nostalgic hits” popped up. It’s interesting the variety of movies they included from different times, some my mom might have found more nostalgic of her childhood and some of mine. I wonder how they chose the films.

#UCLA60FOT I went to Knotts berry Farm last weekend and thought it was cool they had a whole 1885 ghost town. Reminded me about the nostalgia people often have for “cowboys and Indians” like we discussed in our last seminar.

@ninale_le It’s so interesting that people still want to keep something so obsolete around just for the memories they had with them. White boards are so much better, yet many professors prefer what they grew up with rather than the new technology.
